00:00The Knicks and the Pistons will play game two tonight at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
00:06A 21-0 run in the fourth quarter by the Knicks took the game over, 123-112.
00:13They lead the series 1-0.
00:15Here is Tom Thibodeau.
00:16One game, it's a win, but we need to be a lot better.
00:19Very well, Cat, getting up.
00:21You got some deflections.
00:22I guess, how would you think about the team?
00:24What?
00:25Yeah, you know, that's the challenge.
00:27And, you know, we have to take a look at the film.
00:31Obviously, there's things that we're going to have to do a lot better.
00:34It's one win, and then we've got to reset and get ready for the next one.
00:40So, understand what goes into it.
00:45And there's a lot of things that we can do better.
00:50Listen, here's the deal.
00:51For me, the difference in the game, obviously, Brunson had the big night.
00:56And I'm worried about his feet.
00:58He's got Roley Massimino going.
01:00My man rolls his ankles like no one I've ever seen.
01:03His ankle is given out just on its own.
01:06Like, I play with a guy that's got a bad ankle.
01:07He's a great player.
01:09He played at Villanova, too, this dude.
01:10And he rolls his ankle like people roll jelly donuts.
01:15I mean, my man rolls his ankle just walking.
01:17He'll be walking in the gym up, and there it goes.
01:19And I think Brunson's got that problem right now.
01:22You saw him.
01:22He rolled it again a couple times in that game.
01:24I'm worried about him in this series with his right foot.
01:29The other difference for me in the game were twofold.
01:31As usual, that dirty dog, Josh Hart, and then the big bodega.
01:36I mean, this guy played his ass off and did it all.
01:40Not only was he scoring, finishing, rebounding, but he also had steals and dimes.
01:49And I just thought that in that 21-0 run, the bodega was a huge part of it.
01:55And Josh Hart was as well.
01:57And I just thought they took the game over.
01:58They, listen, in my honest opinion, they had no business winning that game.
02:02They don't have that 21-0 run.
02:04They lose the game.
02:05They're going to lose to the Pistons in game one.
02:07So, I expect tonight they got a problem on their hands again.
02:11You know why?
02:12Because they let Cade Cunningham tomahawk dunk all night long.
02:17He just does whatever.
02:19He goes right down the lane.
02:20And he's hanging on the rim with his onions in their face.
02:24How many crank dunks, swinging, seesaw dunks did he have?
02:28Where he's on the, with both hands swinging on like, he's on the monkey bars.
02:32Like, the guy's out at the park with the kids.
02:34Like, it's unbelievable.
02:36They don't defend him.
02:38They don't stop him.
02:39He does whatever he wants.
02:40He's like Anthony Edwards, does whatever he wants.
02:43They just let him do whatever he wants.
02:45Like, you know, I'm over there.
02:46If I'm a coach, I'm having, I mean, I'm literally drinking Maalox and eating Tums at the same time.
02:51Watching this guy go down, like, Main Street.
02:54He's going right down Broadway and throwing down gigantic seesaw swinging dunks.
02:59Like, I'm just not having it.
03:01Can't have it.
03:04Not at all.
03:06Jalen Brunson, who I guess must have went, you know, when he left that game on Saturday, he came back like a million bucks.
03:12They must have given him a shot at something.
03:14He got in and got the gas.
03:16Whatever happened with them.
03:17He now has five playoff games with 30 or more points and eight more times as a Knick.
03:22Everyone else in team history only has combined five games like that.
03:26So, Brunson, of course, lots of records.
03:29OG Ananobi, first player in NBA history to have a playoff game with 23 plus, seven plus boards, five plus steals, three plus offensive rebounds, three plus.
03:39Then there's him.
03:39And he was plus dead.
03:40Anything else?
03:41He's that guy.
03:42Anything else on the list to that?
03:45He's that guy, Mike.
03:46I forgot him.
03:47And that's embarrassing on my part because he's that guy.
03:50I mean, and you know what?
03:51He's the only one that can even try to stop Cade Cunningham.
03:56Like, he's their best defender, bar none.
03:59And I saw someone last week who's a Knick fan tell me that they would give him up for Kevin Durant in the offseason.
04:07Can you imagine trading that guy for Kevin Durant?
04:09That would be worse than that deal, than that old gazer, compared to this young, like, stud monster, 6'8", 275.
04:20He's a monster.
04:22He's not 275.
04:24He plays like it, though.
04:27One thing for Detroit here as we go into tonight, I'm sure you saw this towards the end of the game.
04:32I guess Isaiah Stewart got banged up.
04:35Now, look, I know he doesn't score a lot, but he's a pain in the ass.
04:39Out there on the court, he's physical, he's violent, and he's got some knee issues.
04:44So, let's check.
04:45We'll see with him closer to game time if he's going to be out there for the Pistons.
04:48It's 6.5 tonight with a 221.5 as the total.
04:56Yeah, I think the number's live with the Pistons.
04:59I really do.
05:00They blew it.
05:01They were up 9, and they blew it.
05:03They just absolutely folded up shop in the 4th, and that's not happening tonight.
05:08They're not having a 20.
05:09They'll never have another 21-0 run in the whole series.
05:12I don't think the Knicks will have a 21-0 run in any playoff series the rest of the way.
05:17So, I think bigger staff knows that we don't let that happen again, and we can win the game.
05:25I can see them winning tonight.
05:27I mean, they had the game.
05:29They had the game.
05:29I was watching the game going, Jesus Christ.
05:33I'm going to sit here and watch them lose today because all I did was watch miserable games,
05:38and then the one team I love, the Knicks, is taking it in the keister.
05:43And then all of a sudden, this 21-0 run, I was like, get out the shrimp.
05:47It's like, what is happening?
05:51I go, this is great.
05:52It was the only thing good that happened to me all weekend.
