00:00These 2025 NFL draft prospects are being way overhyped.
00:04Stay tuned to find out which guys we think we need to cool down on.
00:11We're at the end of the draft process, meaning that there's been plenty of guys
00:15that have been super overblown.
00:17Let's cut through the noise, Ryan.
00:18Who is your most overrated draft prospect in this class?
00:22This is going to be a divisive one.
00:24There's going to be a lot of pushback on this one,
00:25but it's Jackson Dart, quarterback for Ole Miss is what I want to start with, Joe.
00:30Look, man, we went.
00:32The full circle conversation here is I remember talking about him in the preseason.
00:35I'm like, hey, man, this is a pretty cool mid-round quarterback
00:38that could be a potential day two kid that get excited about, right?
00:41He's really good inside the pocket.
00:43He's a good athlete.
00:44Yes, his arm strength is just middling and probably slightly below average
00:48for NFL standards, but there's a little bit of a gamer feel to a Jackson Dart.
00:52And flashing forward now several months, people are now boasting about him
00:56to be a potential maybe quarterback two in this class in a top 10 NFL draft pick.
01:00He's just not that player, ultimately.
01:01I'd be okay with investing a top 100 pick on him, maybe even a top 75 pick.
01:05Top 50 is pushing it a little bit for me.
01:07I understand the appeal, but in a bad quarterback class,
01:10I think we're just propping up a guy with pretty average tools overall for the NFL level.
01:15You need to have compensating traits when you are below average in certain categories.
01:20And Jackson Dart is below average in arm strength.
01:24And his accuracy and his decision making was boosted by the offense that he was playing in.
01:29When we dive deeper, we see a guy that really struggles to move on to that second read.
01:34And his accuracy, it doesn't look as smooth as people realize it was.
01:38There's a lot of recontorting for the football from a lot of the receivers in that Ole Miss receiving course.
01:43So I agree with you on this.
01:45I think Jackson Dart, if this was a normal draft class, if he declared last year with the same tape,
01:50he's a second, third round pick, a guy that is viewed as a future backup.
01:53But because of the desperation, we're pulling a Kenny Pickett.
01:57We're pulling a Matt Corral.
01:58We're doing the same stuff that we do when there's not enough options.
02:01And we're propping up a prospect that was a nice name.
02:04And we don't want to be negative about him.
02:06But we have to start to level set here of the actual expectations.
02:10Speaking of a guy who needs expectations and a level set,
02:13we're pissing off Ole Miss fans with this video.
02:15Trey Amos.
02:17I watched Trey Amos and I thought, man, this is a good football player
02:20who's going to be a really good zone corner.
02:23Flies upfield.
02:24He's a pretty good tackler.
02:25He's pretty physical.
02:26He's got good length.
02:27Checks all those boxes.
02:28But he doesn't have the hips to play man coverage.
02:31He just doesn't.
02:32He's very clunky.
02:33He doesn't transition very well.
02:34And that's fine.
02:35Not every corner needs to be a first round prospect that goes on to be an all pro
02:39that can play multiple schemes.
02:41But right now, this is a guy who's been billed by a lot of folks in the media
02:45as a late first rounder.
02:46And the NFL might even be willing to take him in the end of the first round.
02:50I'm not saying that Trey Amos will be a bust.
02:52But I just worry that if he doesn't go to the right system
02:54and he's not granted the right opportunities to succeed,
02:58we could be sorely disappointed with the results.
03:01Yeah.
03:01I mean, scheme-specific corners is a little bit of a scary thing just in general
03:04because there's only so many of those X amount of schemes
03:07that he'll be able to fit into.
03:08I'm right there with you.
03:10I've been on the Amos thing.
03:11It's not that you dislike him.
03:13It's just at some point, the hype gets a little bit too much, man.
03:17You're just like, guys, this is probably a second or third round corner
03:20that we're now talking about being a top 25 selection potentially in this draft.
03:23Just a little bit too much.
03:25The next one I have is going to hurt you a little bit, Joe,
03:27because I know you're a big FCS homer, obviously, with your background.
03:30Gray Zabel, offensive lineman from North Dakota State,
03:33has played tackle and guard in his career at North Dakota State.
03:37Some people project him as a center long-term in the NFL as well.
03:40Look, I like Gray Zabel.
03:42I remember talking to an agent about him last year before the 2024 NFL draft
03:47because there was at least a thought of contemplating declaring for that draft.
03:51And I liked him.
03:52I think he's a smooth mover on the interior.
03:54I think he's got a good frame, and I think he's got developing power
03:57that continues to get better and better and better.
03:59I like a lot of what I see from Gray Zabel,
04:01but I do not like first-round pick Gray Zabel.
04:03I do not like guy that might go before Tyler Booker Gray Zabel.
04:08I do not like that Gray Zabel ultimately.
04:10So I think you're potentially getting a solid starter on the NFL level if everything hits,
04:15but I do not see pro bowler.
04:17I do not see just plus starter without a doubt.
04:19I think that we need to temper our expectations a little bit with what Zabel can do on the NFL level.
04:24Right.
04:24I really like Gray Zabel, and I was willing to take him middle to the end of the second round,
04:29and I thought I was high on him.
04:30But then you start to see his name prop up in the end of the first round mock drafts for some folks.
04:35He doesn't have the requisite athleticism that we look for in an interior offensive lineman.
04:41He's not super flexible.
04:43He's downhill.
04:44I think he could be an average starting guard in the NFL, and he's going to work out like we saw him perform well at the Senior Bowl.
04:50And that tends to happen a lot with these North Dakota State guys.
04:53They're very technically refined.
04:55They're very steady, reliable players that can step right in.
04:58But the upside just isn't there beyond that.
05:01Him becoming a pro bowler, I just don't know if that's on the radar and worth him being a first rounder.
05:06My last guy that I think is getting really overhyped, player who I liked.
05:11I like this film.
05:12As a designated pass rusher, Donovan Azaraku from Boston College.
05:15I think that he can be and should be a third round selection that you're drafting with an already established pass rush unit that he just plugs in
05:28in very specific situations, and you just let him loose.
05:31But as this first round prospect, I'm not there for it because he just doesn't have the ability to impact against the run
05:38because he doesn't have the physicality to be strong in that area.
05:43Situational pass rusher in the third round.
05:45Sign me up.
05:46Every single down defensive end, I can't get behind that.
05:50Yeah, Azaraku is a guy that I think is really profiting off of the fact that there are a couple edges in this class
05:57that are falling down boards a little bit due to some off-the-field concerns, some character concerns.
06:01I think that's kind of helping him prop him up a little bit.
06:03I will say this, though, Joe.
06:05I think some people in the NFL also agree with you.
06:07I've talked to a couple that are a little bit lower on Donovan Azaraku comparatively to where maybe some other parts of the NFL are.
06:12I think he still goes in the first round, but I don't think that this is a consensus-ly loved prospect on the NFL level.
06:20I do think there's a little bit of volatility to that projection.
06:24Folks, let us know in the comments who's a guy that you just don't get that is getting way too much love right now that you're confused by.
