At his press briefing, NYC Mayor Eric Adams was asked about his administration joining the congestion pricing lawsuit.
Transcript
00:00You do that yet?
00:01Okay.
00:02Your administration joined the congestion pricing lawsuit.
00:07Yes.
00:08I'm just wondering if you can talk about what you see as some of the benefits of congestion
00:11pricing and why the city is joining.
00:14Well, we have to deal with congestion on our streets.
00:17We know that.
00:18Not only is it an environmental issue, that's why we fought to get $100 million for those
00:24for those communities that have an environmental impact.
00:30You know, congestion hurts our business.
00:32I speak to business leaders, to time of deliveries.
00:35It's an issue.
00:36But we've got to get it right.
00:37I've said it over and over again.
00:39We have to get it right.
00:40You know, I don't want to negatively impact working class people.
00:44I don't want to make sure we displace the traffic into other communities like Staten Island,
00:50the Bronx, and other areas.
00:52I don't want to turn, you know, outside the outskirts of Queensborough Bridge into a place
00:57where people are driving, parking.
00:59You know, so we just have to get it right.
01:01We have to think it through.
01:02That's the job of the MTA and the governor.
01:05And I said that over and over again.
01:07That is their job.
01:08I wish it would have been in the hands of the mayor and the city council, but I don't
01:13have that control.
01:14You know, we're creatures of the state.
01:16They made the determination.
01:17I respect the determination.
01:19How are you?
01:22How are you doing?
01:23I'm good.
01:24How are you?
