00:00Stop doom scrolling. We did it for you. Here's what you need to know with Amy and Sean on 1027 VGS.
00:08It's a wintry scene, snow sticking in Henderson, Red Rock Canyon and more.
00:13Usually when it snows anywhere near the valley, it melts by like 730 in the morning.
00:18And it actually stuck. There were kids coming out of school in Henderson and they were going to the park and there was just a bunch of snow on the grass.
00:25It was a really cool. Did the kids go out and see anything? You get up there in the northwest, anything?
00:28Nothing. Nothing at all. I know. And you know, it's so funny is my husband's from California. I'm from New York.
00:34And when it snowed the very first time since we had been here in 2008, when it stuck, it was like for a couple of days.
00:40And Jaden was little at the time. And my husband was like, no, put him, bring him inside.
00:45Like he thought it was the devil. He honestly reminded me of the Adam Sandler, like the mom.
00:51Like, you know, I'm talking about what a water boy would be because he was just like what snows the devil.
00:57Yeah, that's he he was he was so scared of it. And I'm like, listen, California boy, it's snow.
01:02I survived a lot of it. This one inch. It will be fine.
01:05That's Satan's dandruff. Yeah. Yeah. He was so funny.
01:09You get some really nice pictures. I actually drove up to Red Rock Canyon to capture some of the scene.
01:13You can see it at 1027VGS.com. Very, very pretty. Brought the kids out there.
01:17We're going to go to Mount Charleston over the weekend. And I just did not want to deal with the traffic.
01:22And the snow came to us. Yeah, there you go. I love it. It's way better.
01:26OK, we're obviously a little bit of a water situation, Colorado River.
01:29Well, six of the seven states in the Colorado River Basin came to an agreement on cuts to water usage that would help maintain Lake Mead and Lake Powell.
01:37There was one state that did not go along with everything.
01:41That state is, of course, California. Yours and mine.
01:44Our favorite, California, who is the biggest water user of all, they instead plan to send their own plan to the Department of Interior and Bureau of Reclamation today.
01:55The lack of consensus means the federal government will probably get involved with a plan of their own.
02:00California takes like such a wide amount of the water.
02:03Like they take, I think, roughly like 10 times more water than we do in Southern Nevada every year.
02:08Just their almond crop takes more water than we, than they take from Lake Mead every year.
02:15Just the alfalfa that they use to feed the cows takes more water than they take from Lake Mead every year.
02:20It's insane how much water they use.
02:22And they've got a whole ocean there. They don't desalinate.
02:25It's a big mess.
02:26So, of course, California is not going to play nice with their water.
02:29It's OK.
02:30Wow. School in the Southwest.
02:32Quite the scene last week.
02:33Tanaka Elementary, over 100 kids reportedly, all at once, vomiting in the hallways of the class.
02:42CCSD confirmed that last week a gastrointestinal illness outbreak.
02:46It spread rapidly through the school, causing a mass sickening.
02:49Some classes were cut in half from the start to the end of the day.
02:52Teachers are quoted as using the words apocalypse and Armageddon.
02:57Wow.
02:57And a report from 8 News Now, teachers and parents.
03:00We have the story at 1027VGS.com.
03:02But why are we just hearing about this now?
03:05This is the last week.
03:06I don't know.
03:07But they're probably still picking it up.
03:09They're still probably cleaning up the situation.
03:12I have no issue cleaning up my kids' throw up.
03:16Anyone else's?
03:17Anybody else's?
03:18Gross.
03:18I had to do my husband because he will throw up more and just more.
03:21And then I'm picking up and he throws up more.
03:23So, but everybody else, it's too much for me.
03:26It's like wiping your kid's butt.
03:28I'm OK with my kid's poop.
03:30Yours?
03:30No.
03:31Get that kid away from me.
03:32No.
03:33And I think the most thankless job is elementary school custodian.
03:37I mean, how many barrels need to be bleached now?
03:41Yeah.
03:42Oh, God.
03:42Gross.
03:43Hey, speaking of schools that are sick, Bishop Gorman, their football program is sick.
03:47While a new plan being put forth by rival coaches would clip their wings a bit, a proposal would limit the amount of out-of-state games the team plays to drop to one in the course of a season, which Gorman feels limits the ability for their players to be discovered on a national stage.
04:02In actuality, all their competitors should let them play out-of-state all year round.
04:07Yeah, I'm very confused, but I did hear people at the tournament over the weekend talking about it.
04:12I don't know how I feel.
04:13I feel like these kids are really good, so they should play against really great teams and not saying anything about the rest of the Valley, but, you know, it's tough.
04:23Let me just let you know, huh?
04:25Last season, Gorman beat his in-state opponents 574 to 23.
04:33Mm-hmm.
04:35Ouch.
04:36Yeah.
04:36Remember the Game Genie on NES?
04:39You put your, like, your cartridge in, and you put it in this Game Genie, and then you could do a bunch of cheat codes?
04:43Oh, yeah, maybe, yeah.
04:44I'm pretty sure Bishop Gorman's got the cheat codes.
04:46I know.
04:46Just let them go play, because they're not going to get any better.
04:50Yeah, no.
04:50But by just, you know, playing against all these teams and winning by so much, and it's not going to make these guys, like everybody else, better, either, losing 100-0.
04:59Yeah, who wants to deal with that?
05:01Yeah.
05:01Yeah, I don't know.
05:02It's a pretty raw deal.
05:04I mean, you know, the XFL Vipers, just have it be Gorman.
05:08I think Gorman should not be a high school team.
05:10They should just be, like, honest, I would put them out against a college team at this point, like a D2, D3 college team.
05:16They're very good.
05:17Okay, then we talked about the car fire on the Strip that happened last week.
05:22Yeah.
05:22We talked about it yesterday.
05:23Well, the man behind the wheel of the car that's going to shock you that slammed into a palm tree in front of the Venetian is being charged with DUI.
05:29Wow, you don't say.
05:31Doing court April 24th.
05:33Finally, the Knights are on an all-star break.
05:34I said mistakenly that the Knights will be playing tonight.
05:37No, it's a week from tonight in Nashville.
05:40But Chandler Stephenson's going to be busy.
05:42He just got tapped to make the all-star roster.
05:45He's being tapped to replace injured Seattle Kraken player Matty Beneers.
05:49He is going to be joining Logan Thompson and coach Bruce Cassidy for games this Saturday in South Florida.
