00:00We know the hard work and sacrifice they go through serving our community and keeping us safe.
00:06Let's honor another First Responder on 99.5 QYK.
00:11Hi, it is First Responder Friday today. We have a mother of five on the phone who is going to be honoring her husband for First Responder Friday.
00:20Good morning, Laura. How are you?
00:22Good. How are you?
00:23Good. First of all, your hands are full with five kids, I'm sure, right?
00:26That's very true.
00:26Okay. Yes. Well, tell us how your husband, Gabriel, is a First Responder and how he serves our community.
00:33Awesome. So he's a police officer. He works for Newport Ritchie Police.
00:38Okay.
00:38He's been there for three years, but prior to that, he was a deputy for Citrus County for six years, so he's been in law enforcement for nine.
00:46And what's he doing right now for the police department?
00:49He is a school resource officer, so he works in a middle school with all the kids at middle school, just being a role model.
00:56Oh, wow. He sounds like a great guy. He gets a lot of experience from at home, though, right?
01:04Yeah. Yeah. We've had a lot of kids go through our house, so I think it's, like, really prepared him to just take that role at the police department.
01:12What do you think called him to that role, to want to be a school resource officer?
01:15I think just he likes to have an impact on, like, the future.
01:20I think that, like, we've both seen the kids, like, go through bad things and, like, how a person can really impact them, like, to do good.
01:30Now, he obviously is trying to be a great role model for the kids. Tell us how he is as a husband to you.
01:36He's awesome. He comes home from work, and he'll not eat and help me put the kids to bed, and then he'll eat after they all get to bed.
01:45He just really takes time to do fun things with the kids because he works, like, different days than I do, so sometimes he has the babies at home when I'm not home.
01:54So, I mean, he's just a full-time dad, just like I'm a full-time mom, so it's awesome.
01:59Aw. Well, when you guys possibly get a babysitter or something, what do you guys like to do when you have a night out, just the two of you?
02:07Well, we usually have to split up our kids. We don't ever get a babysitter for all of them. We always put them in different spots.
02:14Oh, wow.
02:14The last time we went to, like, a comedy show, and that was really fun. We had never done that before. We liked to go watch the Tampa Bay Lightning play.
02:20Nice.
02:21Things like that.
02:22I love that. Well, I think it takes a very special person to have a calling to want to not only serve our community in law enforcement, but also protect our kids while they're at school and be a resource officer.
02:32That's so great. We want to do this for you and your family. We want to give you $200 Visa gift cards, one from Crown Buick GMC and the other one from Demesman and Dover Law Firm.
02:42A small way for us to say thank you. Hopefully, you can get the family out to go do something great, get a meal on us, or whatever you need. Hopefully, those Visa gift cards will help you out in some way.
02:52Yes. Thank you so much.
02:54No, thank you so much, and we appreciate it, and please tell Gabriel. We're so thankful for him as well.
02:59Oh, well, thank you.
