00:007.46, it's the morning rat race from 95.9, the rat. Dave's got quick sports. What's up, man?
00:08Well, a shocking story in the world of sports and business and other stuff as the golfing world has been rocked.
00:16The PGA Tour announced they will be merging with their former rivals, the Saudi Arabian-backed Live Golf Tour.
00:26Wow.
00:27That's huge.
00:28This is after the commissioner, the PGA commissioner, let me get this guy's name, Jay Monahan said any player, this is a year ago, he said any player who leaves PGA for Live is betraying the United States of America.
00:45He brought up 9-11 and said, think of the fact that the terrorists on 9-11 came from Saudi Arabia and that their government is a brutal dictatorship.
00:55I feel that way now with this announcement.
00:58And apparently, this guy totally sold everyone out.
01:03Wow.
01:03Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods turned down $500 million and $800 million respectively to join Live in order to stay with the PGA, do the right thing, and publicly denounce Live.
01:21That's crazy.
01:22And denounce players who would join it.
01:24And Rory McIlroy has got to be feeling used today.
01:28So what was the PGA's price?
01:29How much are they getting?
01:31I don't know all that yet, but what we do know is that they had a players meeting yesterday with the commissioner, Jay Monahan,
01:39where Rory McIlroy apparently yelled at the guy to resign, said, leave your job.
01:45Apparently, McIlroy was the most vocal and livid at the meeting as none of the players were given a heads up about this.
01:54Seems like this all came down to the commissioner, Jay Monahan of PGA.
01:59Shocking.
02:00That's crazy.
02:01Yeah, all the players in shocking.
02:03And they chopped up that Wall Street Journal reporter?
02:06Yep.
02:07Wow.
02:08Meanwhile, the 9-11 Families United, this is a coalition of families and survivors from the 2001 terrorist attack,
02:17say they are shocked and deeply offended by the PGA's decision, feel like they have betrayed the honor of America.
02:29This is insane.
02:31I mean, what a turnaround.
02:33And furthermore, a couple of guys, PGA players on conditions of anonymity said this was just downright stupid, they said,
02:43because they said live was on its heels, that PGA's been around for, you know, forever.
02:48Yeah, you're not going to take it down.
02:49And yeah, like the NFL, you're not going to take it down in that it was struggling lately.
02:53And so they said there wasn't even a reason to do this.
02:57Now you even wonder who's in charge.
02:59It's all about the money.
03:00All about the money.
03:01And basically, so, you know, who's in charge, by the way, is now this tour, is the PGA tour essentially owned by Saudi Arabia.
03:11Well, I just heard very briefly about the deal and that it was a $3 billion deal, that the PGA gets $3 billion.
03:20But the live kind of gets folded into the PGA.
03:25Exactly.
03:26Except for the head of the live group will be in charge of like a committee who's in charge of the whole thing.
03:34This is dicey.
03:37It really is dicey.
03:38You better be very nice in your coverage to the PGA.
03:42Because you might be chopped up into little pieces like that cat from the Wall Street Journal.
03:48I tell you what, if I'm McElroy and Tiger, I would straight up tell PGA, give me my money.
03:55You guys had us.
03:56I tell them to go screw themselves.
03:57They got enough cash to never play golf again.
03:59But still, just out of punishment.
04:01You know, take $3 billion, $1.3 of that billion, it belongs to us because that's what we turned down to publicly denounce them.
04:10And basically, they did a PR tour where they were in front of the microphones throwing everyone.
04:17I mean, I think they lose all credibility.
04:19If Tiger Woods turns around and says, give me the money, he loses all credibility.
04:23I'm just talking about PGA.
04:25Those guys, they got used.
04:27They got totally screwed over.
04:28I agree.
04:29You know?
04:29But if he now says, now pay me part of that, then he loses his credibility.
04:34Well, I'm saying he should say that to PGA.
04:37Not to Saudi Arabia.
04:38He tells PGA, screw you guys.
04:40You guys sold me out.
04:42You guys got, you know what?
04:43Screw you guys.
04:43Give me money and I'm out of here.
04:44I'm saying that if he does that, he loses all his credibility.
04:48I want my money after that.
04:50That's ridiculous.
04:51That's totally unfair.
04:52So we'll see what happens.
04:55Baseball, the Yankees were defeated by the White Sox last night.
04:573-2.
04:58Yankee starter Clark Schmidt, not terrible, but not great.
05:02He receives the loss, drops to 2-6.
05:04Meanwhile, the Yankees have announced that Aaron Judge will be missing about a week or so,
05:09still dealing with a minor foot injury after crashing through the wall in L.A. against the Dodgers.
05:14The Mets fell to the Braves 6-4.
05:16Atlanta down 4-1 in the game before they roared back
05:18as the Mets drop to 30-31 for the year.
05:22Phillies shut out the Tigers 1-0 as Philly starter Tywon Walker was excellent.
05:26He picks up the win.
05:27Basketball tonight is Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
05:30Denver Nuggets, Miami Heat all tied up at one game apiece.
05:34Tip-off is 8-30 in Miami.
05:36Hope to see Jimmy Buffett there sitting front court.
05:40He's their Spike Lee.
05:44He's their Jack Nicholson.
05:45You know how Nicholson likes the Lakers.
05:46Is that a bunch of retirees down there?
05:49I mean, it feels like they should have more stars,
05:52but for whatever reason, he's like the guy who's like the front row guy at the Heat games
05:57when he's in good health.
05:59Hockey, the Stanley Cup Finals resume on Thursday
06:02as the Las Vegas Golden Knights lead the Florida Panthers two games to none.
06:05And then finally, football, DeMar Hamlin participated in his first full Bills practice
06:13since his scary collapse last January.
06:17When he died on the field.
06:19Yeah, I mean, that frightening collapse against the Bengals.
06:22He was captured on Monday Night Football.
06:24The next step, they say, even this is a miracle,
06:27but the next step, they say, will be putting on pads and tackling when training camp begins.
06:31But nevertheless, back in practice, DeMar Hamlin, unbelievable.
06:38Yeah, this guy's crazy.
06:39Either he's full-on nuts or he's got the biggest balls ever.
06:42I think the latter.
06:44He seems like a very unnormal guy when you hear him talking.
06:46That is your Quick Look at Sports.
06:48Hey, man.
