00:00All right, 105, Wonder Brown, Detroit, Stoback,
00:02for hip-hop and R&B.
00:03It's your boy, Showtime, the czar.
00:04I'm sitting here on the phone with a legend, man.
00:07I grew up watching the Wayans brothers,
00:09and he is just one half of it,
00:11but he's part of the illustrious Wayans family.
00:14I'm talking to the one and only Marlon Wayans.
00:16What up, though, Marlon?
00:17I'm good, brother.
00:18How you doing?
00:18I am great, man.
00:19So you will be in Detroit this weekend, right,
00:22February 8th, for your Wild Child Tour.
00:26I sure enough will be.
00:27I'll be in the B.
00:28We're going to have a good time.
00:29I always have great shows in Detroit.
00:31It's more like a party than it is a show.
00:34The way y'all be laughing, it always feels great in Detroit.
00:38This is your first tour in how many years?
00:42I tour, literally.
00:43I've been touring every year for eight years.
00:46Really?
00:46I have not stopped.
00:48And I come with new – I have a brand-new set every time.
00:51I don't do the same stuff.
00:53I come out.
00:54I do a special every year, and then I retire that material.
00:58So when you come see me live in your city, chances are that's a one-time experience.
01:06Okay.
01:06After that, I get rid of – I don't do that show no more.
01:09So last time I did Detroit, I think I was doing Good Grief.
01:12I'm on Wild Child, which is a completely different tour now.
01:15Okay.
01:15Talk about the name Wild Child Tour.
01:17Where did that name come from?
01:18Well, out of all my siblings, that would be me.
01:21And I just – you know, I can think it's a great name.
01:28It represents freedom.
01:29It represents the fact that I can go dark and find light, and I can be flexible and weird
01:38and physical and honest and raw and still be loved.
01:42So you're doing a new scary movie.
01:46Now, I heard that the last couple were not written by you or your brother or anyone in
01:52your family.
01:53This is – so now y'all got it back now, right?
01:54Is that correct?
01:55Is that how that works?
01:56Yeah.
01:57Yeah.
01:57Okay.
01:58So what made you want to do another scary movie film?
02:00I think the fans want it.
02:02I mean, you know, I think it was time.
02:03I think, you know, they tried to do it without us, and it just didn't taste the same.
02:07And it's like doing contemporary fried chicken without the colonel or, you know, trying to – it's
02:12like doing Frank's hot sauce without Frank, you know?
02:14There's only one Frank.
02:16So, you know, our thing, you know, we have a certain recipe and a certain formula and a
02:21certain point of view, and you can't take that from us.
02:24And so we're bringing that organic Wayne's point of view back to scary movie franchise,
02:30and it's going to be really funny, and you guys are really going to enjoy it.
02:34All right, one more thing before I let you get up.
02:36No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
02:37TV show Bel Air, you are – you have a reprising role as Will's father on there.
02:43Can you talk a little bit about what that role means to you and what made you want to
02:47do a role like that?
02:50You know, Will called me and asked me to do it, and, you know, it was a classic role that
02:56Ben Vereen had done and, you know, on his show, and I just thought it would be a cool
03:02thing to do, and I'm glad I did it.
03:04Got nominated for an NAACP at work, and I think it's some of my best dramatic work, you know.
03:11I got a lot of levels and a lot of things to showcase, so, you know, this is special.
03:17Yeah, I agree, man.
03:18Yeah, you – I really be getting into that.
03:20I like the character that you play, man, and you be having me kind of tear-jerking sometimes,
03:24because, you know, you do it so well, man, so it's super dope.
03:28But you'll be in Detroit this weekend, man.
03:30Thank you, brother.
03:30So we'll see you this weekend, February 8th at the Masanic Temple, man.
03:34We can't wait to see you for a while, y'all, so I appreciate you talking with us, man.
03:38All right, my brother.
03:39I'll see y'all at the Masanic Temple.
