00:01Nottinghamshire is not a personal racetrack for people that want to abuse the roads.
00:05If you are found to be committing antisocial behaviour or any type of vehicle related nuisance or crime, you will be prosecuted.
00:12Operation Wheelspin is a force-wide initiative which has been set up as a response to tackle antisocial behaviour in relation to vehicle crime, street racing and car meets.
00:23Unfortunately the standard of driving we see is particularly poor, you'll see them driving at excess speed, you'll see them donating rounds, you'll see them drifting their cars around roundabouts.
00:32Just generally using the public road as their own sort of personal racetrack really, which is obviously unacceptable.
00:37It's a weekend thing, it's a Friday, Saturday, Sunday evenings, where there'll be a bespoke team from Op Wheelspin, a mixture of marked and unmarked police vehicles because we can use a variety of tactics.
00:48Part of Operation Wheelspin means that we've been able to work with key partners to build this project.
00:53So one of those key partners is Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
00:57They've played a pivotal role in the engagement side of things, in the educational side of things.
01:01So if someone was to breach a public space protection order, we offer similar to a diversion course where they can choose to opt to take part in this course,
01:10which offers educational advice around road safety.
01:13We want to make our road network a no-go area for these individuals.
01:16They're putting their lives at risk, other people's lives at risk and in no uncertain terms we need to make it clear that our road network is not for this and they're not welcome to use the roads of Nottinghamshire for this type of behaviour.
