00:00The NHL isn't ready for this.
00:02It's following what was an absolutely ludicrous game two.
00:06That's how Max Domi put the Leafs on his back in overtime.
00:09Following that game, we have some wild new reports, rumors,
00:12and comments from some players both on the Leafs side
00:15and the Senators side that have fans fired up.
00:17But the NHL is not ready for what's about to happen next.
00:21I'll write down exactly what that is and discuss what this means going forward.
00:24But before we get into it, folks, if you're part of the percentage
00:25who aren't subscribed to the channel, this is the place to be
00:27for the best Leafs content on YouTube and daily Leafs content.
00:30So if you're part of the 71% anywhere, subscribe to the channel.
00:32Make sure to hit that subscribe button.
00:33Darius, coming off of a huge win last night, and we're back at it tomorrow.
00:37But in the meantime, the NHL is not ready for what is about to happen.
00:41And this was a game, in yesterday night's game,
00:43that really kind of cemented this Leafs team as being different.
00:47They got outplayed for most of this game.
00:49They come out, they get the win.
00:50But I want to dive into some of the comments.
00:51I think that's where the difference is going to be made.
00:53The way and the attitude that this team has.
00:55You can see this here from Max Domi on the win with his dad in attendance.
00:59Big win.
01:00On to the next one.
01:01Now, we're just getting started, so it's only going to feel better as we go.
01:05And again, you have Anthony Stollers, you know, destroying Ridley Gregg and Nett.
01:10I was just caught up in the heat of the battle.
01:11I didn't even know who it was.
01:13Yeah, okay.
01:13I don't know if I believe him there, but he'll say that regardless.
01:16Darius, a huge win.
01:17And I don't know if, as Leafs fans, we're obviously been used to the Leafs getting eliminated,
01:22all those things for the first time in, you know, two decades, over two decades.
01:26The Toronto Maple Leafs are up 2-0 in a series.
01:28What matters most is how they responded to what was a terrible, terrible stretch of play there.
01:34I don't want to be negative, but they do need to clean that up.
01:36But I don't think the NHL is ready for this team if Anthony Stollers is playing at this caliber as well.
01:41Well, I think the most terrifying thing that the NHL isn't ready for right now is if the Leafs, you know,
01:47make it to the second round at this point, is the fact that they're playing brutal games like that
01:52and they can still pull out a win because of the roster that they have now
01:54and the philosophy that they're playing under, under Craig Berube, right?
01:58I think that it's very impressive what they did last night, despite not playing for the second and third period, right?
02:03Let's call it what it is.
02:04Like, again, we have to touch on the negativity a little bit because it is what happened.
02:08The first period was fantastic and they were building off exactly what they did in game one.
02:12The second and third, they stopped playing and then you get a nice play there from Simone Benoit over to Max Domi
02:16and you get the big goal, right?
02:18And Max Domi with some great comments post-game.
02:20Stollers, I think that got the crowd fired up and I think it just instills something different in the fan base right now
02:26that we haven't felt in a long time, right?
02:28And he knew exactly who that was.
02:29He knew that it was Ridley Gregg in his crease.
02:32I think he just doesn't want to stir up anything in the media.
02:34But nonetheless, I mean, you love to see that from your goaltender standing up for himself
02:38and his teammates.
02:39And then, again, they get the job done, right?
02:41All anybody's going to remember is the result at the end of the day.
02:44And then, you know, you have Senators fans on the other side of things saying that the Sens are dominating play 5-on-5,
02:49which, again, isn't true in last night's game either, right?
02:52Like, the Leafs are right there with them, if not playing better at 5-on-5 at times.
02:56So, you know, that's not true either and you still lost.
02:59Were the Sens better last night?
03:00Yes, and I think the Leafs were expecting that.
03:02The Leafs have to get back to playing their game.
03:04And that's something that is going to be a topic of conversation over the next two days.
03:08But the fact that they were able to come out with that win, and I think that they will bounce back
03:11because, you know, for the majority of that game, they didn't play well.
03:14They didn't play their game.
03:15They're going to have a bounce-back performance in Game 3.
03:17They have an opportunity to go up 3-0.
03:19And they're up 2-0 right now.
03:21That hasn't been done since 2002 for the Leafs.
03:23So, they're in a very good spot right now.
03:25Yeah, they were way too passive once they got the 2-0.
03:27I mean, they got the 2-0 lead early in the game, 8 minutes into the game, 12 minutes into the game,
03:29whatever it was, and then coasted from there on out.
03:31And on the flip side of things, even both goals the Senators had in that game were kind of lapses in the Leafs' part
03:37and a little bit unlucky if OEL just continues with the puck there, doesn't try to do the drop pass.
03:41Of course, a bit of confusion between him and the other Leafs.
03:43Of course, Benoit, his partner, wasn't near the play or wasn't near the puck at least.
03:46So, a weird decision by OEL.
03:47The other goal, bounced in off Brendan Carlo, a bit of a lapse by Benoit there, Carlo, whoever you want to call it.
03:53But regardless of that, the Leafs got the win.
03:55None of the goals are stolen as his fault.
03:57He's been as locked in as we've ever seen him for the past month.
03:59Even dating back, he had 3 out of his 4 last games for shutouts.
04:02Like, this guy is unbelievable.
04:05And following that one shaky goal in Game 1, none of the goals are really his fault.
04:09And I hate saying that, you know, goals aren't the goalie's fault.
04:12But it's pretty true in this case.
04:14And let's dive into Travis Green, because we have to do this now.
04:16What he said after Game 1.
04:19Now, after Game 2, I really like the way we played tonight.
04:21Looking forward to the next game, which is fair.
04:23I don't know, you know, that makes sense, obviously, from their perspective.
04:25And to be fair, the Senators did play well.
04:29They obviously, they bounced back.
04:30They played a much better game than they did in Game 1 in Game 2.
04:34However, you can see here and how, you know, Brady Kachuk, we'll dive into Travis Green again in a minute.
04:38There's not one ounce of panic down in this locker room.
04:40It just shows how much we're going to need this city.
04:41How much we're going to need the Canadian Tire Center to be buzzing.
04:43We're looking forward to getting home.
04:44And honestly, there's not one ounce of panic.
04:46And I'm hoping that Leafs fans go out and absolutely tear the roof down from the Leafs side of things.
04:50And really just throw a gut punch to the Senators.
04:52And I have full faith that the Leafs fans are going to do that.
04:54You know, the Scotiabank Arena, pretty loud again tonight.
04:57Not quite as loud as Game 1.
04:59There were some lulls in play for fans to be less.
05:01But even when those lulls were happening, you still hear, you know, Brady sucks chant, Olmark here and there.
05:05So I'm loving the vibe from that.
05:07But Sens are still confident, which, you know, to be fair, I guess they have to be.
05:11And if you're the coach, I'm not going to, you know, hit on Travis Green for this comment.
05:14You kind of have to.
05:15But his other comment here was interesting.
05:17And he kind of just dives into the fact that there's not one ounce of panic.
05:20And both Brady Kachuk said it.
05:22You have, I believe Travis Green said it as well, that, you know, they're not panicked.
05:26They're not worried, which is interesting because, you know, they're down 2-0, which is not impossible to come back from.
05:31But it's definitely a difficult, difficult feat.
05:34I don't think that, you know, for a team in their position, you shouldn't panic, right?
05:38That's not the course of action you should take because then you can go down 3-0 very quickly.
05:42But if you look at what's in front of you, you can go down 3-0.
05:45And if you do, I mean, that is almost impossible.
05:47Again, we're talking about the Leafs here and we know the history of the last couple of years.
05:50But, you know, it's almost impossible to come back from 3-0.
05:53Has it been done?
05:53Yes.
05:53But literally a handful of times ever in the history of this sport.
05:57So, again, I'm not saying that the team should panic or say that they're going to panic.
06:01But to come out and say those words exactly is a little weird.
06:04I understand why he's saying it.
06:06But, you know, for Brady Kachuk to come out and say that, you know, he's excited to go home too.
06:09I mean, it's going to be a home ice advantage for the Leafs back in auto as well.
06:12Like, that building is going to be full of Leafs fans.
06:15I'm not saying it's going to be 100% Leafs fans, but I think it's going to be a majority of Leafs fans in that building.
06:21So, you are going home.
06:21It is your home rink in terms of the boards and the bounces and stuff like that.
06:25But, you know, there's going to be a lot of Leafs fans there and the atmosphere is going to be incredible.
06:28And the Leafs have an opportunity to, again, go up 3-0 in the series.
06:31This is a huge opportunity for this team to, you know, make life easy for themselves and, you know, get a berth in the second round here.
06:38So, and pretty easily as well.
06:40Like, if they can wrap this up in four or five games, like, you're in pretty good shape.
06:43So, again, they have a great opportunity in front of them.
06:46I understand why the Sens are saying stuff like that.
06:48But it's almost time to panic for them because, you know, you lose a game where I thought they were better than the Leafs last night, right?
06:54And, again, they didn't come out with a win.
06:57And so, this is pretty exciting for the Leafs and their fans, I think.
07:00Yeah, to be able to pull out a win.
07:01I don't think they do this under last year's team, under Sheldon Keevling.
07:05The mindset is different.
07:05Morgan Rielly spoke out on Max Domi.
07:07Every day is a real privilege.
07:08You play with guys like him.
07:09For him to have that moment in overtime at home is extremely special.
07:11He had a rough game before that.
07:12A lot of turnovers, bad defensive play.
07:14And he redeemed it all with an overtime goal.
07:16And that's all it takes in the playoffs.
07:17You can forget about all your regular season performances.
07:19He had a pretty bad regular season, too, as a whole.
07:21Same with Morgan Rielly.
07:22And now the two guys we're talking about in the screenshot here, both, I mean, Domi with the game-winning goal.
07:27Morgan Rielly has more goals than Austin Matthews, Mitch Brown, and all these guys.
07:31And he's a defenseman, albeit it kind of kicked one in, but it was off his foot.
07:34So, things are looking very good.
07:36And Morgan Rielly, on the other hand, like, he's looked very good.
07:39And also, something that's kind of gotten lost in this a little bit.
07:41You obviously look at the expected goals chart.
07:43The Leafs, you know, came out ahead for most of the game.
07:46Morgan Rielly is playing really good defensively as well.
07:50At least responsible enough defensively.
07:52Look at some of the advanced metrics.
07:53Like, yeah, his offensive game has been good.
07:54But he's been playing responsible defensively.
07:55I'm not seeing him make those stretch passes that were really bad.
07:58You know, we saw in the regular season turnovers in the defensive zone.
08:00You know, it's kind of been OEL who's kind of taken that a little bit, you know, a little bit of nerves.
08:04Whatever it ends up being, even though OEL won a cup last year.
08:06I know that's not the hit on OEL.
08:07He had a bit of a rough game.
08:08And I'm only saying that because the Leafs won with a lot of players not really having a great game.
08:12The core four being a little bit quiet.
08:13One of Matthew Nise's, not worst games in the playoffs, but a little bit quiet.
08:17A little bit, he almost looked, not nervous, but he was, like you mentioned in the stream,
08:20switching between wings, doing a bunch of interesting things.
08:23All that to say, the Leafs won.
08:25And Anthony Stolarz, you know, he did his thing.
08:27And now it's on to the next game because, man, oh, man, what a fantastic one.
08:31And it was an exciting one.
08:33It was a very exciting game.
08:36I think, like, the fan base was hyped up coming into this one.
08:38You're feeling really good about game one.
08:39And then it started off fantastic, and they stopped playing, and the nerves start to creep back in.
08:43But I think the Leafs and Max Domi give you that confidence again.
08:46You're up 2-0.
08:47Like, the job's not done.
08:48We all know that, right?
08:49But going back to Ottawa, like I said, you have a great opportunity.
08:52Your goalie is feeling himself, and he's beating guys up, actively beating guys up for coming into his crease.
08:58So he's feeling himself.
08:59I think your top guys are playing like top guys.
09:01Again, like you said, Nise, I don't know if he had, like, a negative impact, per se, on the game,
09:05but he was quiet last night, right?
09:07A couple of other guys, like Domi, Robertson.
09:10These guys are not having a positive impact on the game, but, you know, Domi comes out with the overtime winner,
09:14and you just stick around in a game where you are getting outplayed.
09:17And we all expected Ottawa to have that pushback in this game.
09:20We knew they were going to settle down.
09:21Things were going to settle down.
09:22There's only one power play for the Leafs in this game.
09:24They made good use of it, right, which is the reason why they won.
09:26But, you know, these are things that you have to consider kind of moving forward.
09:30And I think the Leafs are going to have a bounce back in game three,
09:32which is exciting because they're going to have an opportunity to, again, put their best foot forward and go up 3-0.
09:36So, the fact that they came away with this game is awesome.
09:40This is going to be down the road.
09:41If the Sens end up winning one game, two games, you're going to look back at this game and be like,
09:45it could have been a different series.
09:46So, it's going to be exciting moving forward.
09:49And, again, let's try and wrap this up in four or five here.
09:51Yeah, obviously, Chris Tano, speaking about the heightened level that Otto was going to play at, they did.
09:56And, ultimately, they didn't get the job done.
09:58We'll keep you up to date with all the latest news.
10:00I suspect some moves coming later today at practice.
10:03We'll keep you up to date with all that.
10:04Make sure to hit the subscribe button.
10:05Thank you guys for watching.
