00:00I'm here at the Great Wall of, well, not China, because a brand new season of Race Across
00:06the World is about to begin on the BBC. I'm TV and tech writer Matt Morne-Hickson and this is
00:12all you need to know about the latest episodes of the hit BBC series. So five new teams are going
00:19to be racing once again. This time they're starting on the Great Wall of China, the actual one, not
00:24this one behind me. And they will be travelling about 14,000 kilometres, which is ten times
00:32John O'Groats to Land's End I worked out, which is, yeah, pretty lengthy distance. So we'll be travelling
00:3714,000 kilometres to the southernmost tip of India. They'll be going through India, China, Nepal.
00:45It's another Asia series. The previous one started in Japan. This time it's China and the Great Wall of
00:51China. They haven't specified where, but we think it's near the section, the famous section near
00:57Beijing is the most likely one, but the Great Wall of China is 21,000 kilometres long. So it's quite a
01:03lot of places it could be starting from. The episodes start on April the 23rd, Wednesday, April the 23rd,
01:11and will air at 9pm on BBC One weekly. They'll also be available on iPlayer at the same time,
01:19but not the full series. So you'll have to wait if you want to binge it. There'll be about eight
01:25episodes and maybe a ninth reunion one based on previous seasons. So it will run throughout
01:31end of April, May and into June. Yeah, if I can do maths. That's about eight weeks, isn't it?
01:38The teams for season five, so there's five teams again, it includes two pairs of siblings,
01:43a formally married couple, which could be quite the entertainment value there. There's also a teenage
01:50couple, a young teenage couple from Wales who are leaving the valley for the first time. And also
01:56a mother and son duo who are teaming up to travel the world. So there's often one of those. If you're
02:01not familiar with race across the world, they have to travel with a set budget. They can't use phones,
02:06they can't use planes except in certain scenarios. They have to find their way from checkpoint to
02:13checkpoint on their journey from the start point to the end destination. The first team there wins
02:18£20,000. So there's quite a lot at stake. It's exciting. So look forward to a new season
02:25of Race Across the World on BBC starting 23rd of April.
