00:22:29a the time but i visited many of you in the hospital they did an incredible job the doctors
00:22:33are absolutely unbelievable the job they do so we were having a little meeting and at the same
00:22:40time we're signing some very important legislation what will become legislation and right now it's
00:22:47an executive order and having to do mostly with education we have our secretary of education
00:22:54linda mcmahon who's been so incredible over the last few weeks i've been watching her in
00:22:58television i'd like to tell her she could do better but she can't so i want to thank you linda
00:23:04fantastic and we also have commerce and we have labor with us today and you have been
00:23:10thank you very much and howard thank you very much and we'll take some questions after we're finished
00:23:17maybe i'll ask will to step forward and you can go through some of these also lindsay you work with
00:23:26will two very talented lawyers as you all know by now thank you mr president and we'll go through
00:23:32them and linda why don't you come over here in fact one of the three of you come over here
00:23:37we also have a special guest with us today
00:23:42oh that's right annette albright where is annette
00:23:47annette albright charlotte mecklenburg school teacher very special one thank you very much
00:23:55it's a great honor to have you get all sorts of awards for talent that's good thank you very much
00:24:00for being with us appreciate it thank you okay please sir the first executive order we have prepared
00:24:06for your attention there are currently laws on the books requiring certain disclosures of universities
00:24:12when they accept large foreign gifts we believe that certain universities including for example harvard
00:24:19have routinely violated this law and this this law has not been effectively enforced so this executive
00:24:25order charges your departments and agencies uh with enforcing the laws on the books with respect to foreign
00:24:31gifts to american universities okay thank you
00:24:38thank you very much uh we'll put it right here
00:24:40next for you sir university accreditation is currently a process controlled by a number of
00:24:48third-party organizations that's by statute by law many of those third-party accreditors have relied
00:24:55on sort of woke ideology to accredit universities instead of accrediting based on merit and performance
00:25:03this executive order affects a number of changes to the university accreditation process also applies to
00:25:09law schools and other uh other sort of graduate programs but the basic idea is to force accreditation
00:25:17to be focused on the merit and that the actual results that these universities are providing
00:25:22as opposed to how woke these universities have gotten um so we're setting up new accreditation
00:25:27pathways we're charging the department of education uh to really look holistically at this accreditation
00:25:32mess and hopefully make it much better will we look into the past people that they've taken
00:25:38for instance i hear all about certain grade schools and then we read where they're going to teach
00:25:44people basic math math that we can all do very easily but they can't do they're you know going to the top
00:25:50school and they're going to they come out with a program of teaching basic math to somebody that
00:25:56got into a harvard or princeton or yale uh is that part of this when universities are are not performing
00:26:04appropriately whether that's in admissions or whether that's in their actual instructional activities
00:26:09that's certainly something that accreditors uh should be considering that right now we believe
00:26:14they're they're not doing a good enough job of and i think secretary mcmahon could probably speak to that
00:26:18but what about that so they're allowing people into school they can't do math and yet uh kids who've
00:26:24worked really hard and number one in their class in a high school someplace in new jersey or in
00:26:29mississippi they can't get into the best schools what is that all about yeah and i think that gets
00:26:34to your policy sir of meritocracy that we should be looking at those who have real merit to get in
00:26:40and they and um we have to look harder at those universities that aren't enforcing that
00:26:44okay thank you and this pretty much does it right yes sir thank you
00:26:59okay
00:27:05thank you sir during your first administration you made promoting historically black colleges and
00:27:11universities hbcus a major priority this executive order takes existing law on hbcus and brings it
00:27:20into effect we're going to be setting up a white house initiative on hbcus the basic idea here is
00:27:25making sure that every aspect of your administration is working to ensure that hbcus are able to do their
00:27:32job as effectively and as efficiently as possible
00:27:51this next executive order relates to artificial intelligence education sir you've obviously done a
00:27:58a lot in the artificial intelligence space already uh the basic idea of this executive order is to
00:28:03ensure that we properly train the workforce of the future uh by ensuring that school children uh young
00:28:10americans are adequately trained in ai tools so that they can be competitive uh in the economy
00:28:16years from now into the future as ai becomes a bigger and bigger deal that's a big deal because ai is
00:28:22that's where it seems to be at we have literally trillions of dollars being invested invested in
00:28:29ai and there somebody today a very smart person said that ai is the way to the future i don't know if
00:28:36that's right or not but certainly very smart people are investing in it heavily
00:28:52uh next year we have an executive order on workforce development this executive order is going
00:29:03to charge uh numerous departments and agencies uh within the government uh to to reshape the way that we
00:29:09do workforce development one example from the executive order for instance we're looking to get the total
00:29:14number of apprenticeships new apprenticeships up to a million uh in the country to ensure that uh in in
00:29:21critical jobs areas in in areas where we currently don't have enough trained workers uh that we're
00:29:27recreating that pipeline to ensure that particularly as we uh onshore industrial jobs and new industries
00:29:34uh that those industries have the workforce they need to be competitive globally okay very important
00:29:41and this is the eo that we're all here working together and in a way this is like a training center
00:29:47right for for what we're trying to do which is jobs and great salaries it's a great salaries too
00:29:54right it's exactly so all those factories that you're bringing in because of your trade policy
00:29:59we're going to train people in trade craft bring back trade craft to america so that people can work
00:30:05in these factories with great paying jobs and we're going to train them and we're going to remake the
00:30:10american dream uh for all these people we're working together right absolutely this plays right into
00:30:17uh america at work tour which i have kicked off we will um work with our state partners and work
00:30:23with our businesses to see exactly who they need in that workforce and we will skill and upskill
00:30:28these apprentices so they can get right to work and get in the field and build back this economy for
00:30:32exactly the living the american dream yeah thank you sir thank you mr president next sir we have an
00:30:38executive order on school discipline policies uh under i believe it was the biden administration first
00:30:44obama and then biden the department of justice issued guidance that made it almost impossible
00:30:50for schools to enforce adequate discipline disciplinary policies this created issues in the classroom for
00:30:56teachers and students alike basically they focused on crt and sort of diversity ideology instead of
00:31:04actually just enforcing the rules in classrooms to ensure a safe learning environment this executive
00:31:10order revokes that prior guidance and uh puts us back in a place where hopefully the department of
00:31:15education can focus on education and teachers can focus on teaching in a safe environment and this was
00:31:21important for you linda i understand it yeah absolutely because it gives teachers the authority now to
00:31:27have discipline in their classroom and discipline the the person who is being disruptive we took that away
00:31:40to have discipline in a safe environment and to have discipline in a safe environment and this is a
00:31:58theory that underlies a lot of the modern dei and crt driven diversity culture uh the basic idea here is
00:32:06instructing your departments and agencies to no longer rely on disparate impact theory uh as they're
00:32:12regulating as they're issuing guidance as they're making rules uh we want to focus on on results we
00:32:18want to focus on actual fairness we want to focus on merit uh not things like disparate impact theory
00:32:24and the whole sort of uh diversity equity and inclusion cult it's getting out of that huh yes sir
00:32:29to being in the jungle for a long time
00:32:38okay
00:32:43thank you very good job thank you very much appreciate it very much um would you like to introduce again
00:32:52annette and perhaps annette wanted to say something we can do with that
00:32:58to annette is right here yes annette yes please come over
00:33:06would you like to have some comments to make i know you're a former charlotte mecklenburg school
00:33:09teacher i'm a north carolina girl so it's newburn yes um thank you so much for having me thank you so much
00:33:17i am so honored to be here um this has been an eight year um journey for me to raise awareness to the
00:33:25violence that's in public schools and the critical need to address violence in public schools um again
00:33:31been doing eight years because most administrations like to keep the violence hidden um we have three
00:33:37students that should be here with us today we have austin mccalf mccalf i'm sorry if i say his name wrong
00:33:43serenity baker and niger taylor from charlotte north carolina who was shot in the back as he was
00:33:50getting off of a school bus because they thought he was a part of a big brawl that happened inside a
00:33:55public high school so this is very important and critical legislation that we have to keep our educators
00:34:02safe we have to keep our students safe and public schools have to be safe environments so i think like
00:34:09i said i've done this journey alone i've been on it but i have a whole team behind me now um i spoke at
00:34:15the rnc and i told millions that donald trump and his administration was going to make schools great
00:34:21again and i feel that we're on the right path and i'm just honored to be here thank you
00:34:26thank you thank you so much i appreciate it thank you thank you great job can i ask sarah to speak
00:34:47varada yes sir thank you thank you a little bit about these great gentlemen these heroes mr president
00:34:53are extraordinary this is my husband michael and so many of our dear dear friends who are here today
00:34:59many of them have met you sir in your first administration in the hospital many times at
00:35:03walter reed right and they've had long recoveries tomorrow for my husband marks 15 years since he was
00:35:09wounded in afghanistan and on that day about six years ago he had his 120th surgery post-afghanistan and
00:35:16you came to see him at walter reed and so many others and we saw great reform in the va access
00:35:23same-day access to prosthetics mental health care and we know that that is back we're going to these
00:35:29gentlemen were saying alex here earlier was saying in the last few years when he's gone to get a
00:35:33wheelchair the va has asked him this gentleman they've asked him to prove that he still has his
00:35:39injuries as though maybe his limbs would grow back and they unfortunately did not yes and we've
00:35:45seen that many times and so we're excited for you bringing back the va accountability mission act
00:35:50community care that were the hallmark of your first term and we're so excited sir to be here
00:35:55we're honored to be here and thank you for all you do for our nation's heroes thank you who's that picture
00:36:00on there that is joe biden that says let's go brandon
00:36:04i'm saying what was that picture i told him he wasn't allowed to ask you to sign it

00:36:20uh fellas there's a big chance you have a lot of good a lot of good people watching that believe in
00:36:26you they happen to be the media but they believe very much in you like i do anybody
00:36:31mr president we're just we're very happy with the energy that this administration is bringing
00:36:35and it's an administration that says does what it promises and so we're behind you we believe in you

00:37:21of that man right here
00:37:30these are amazing people great heroes so that's really great anybody else i'd like to say it was
00:37:37an honor to serve um you are worth it this country's worth it it's because of what christ paid for
00:37:42thank you and we have a spirit that people haven't seen in many years at least five
00:37:49they haven't seen i think even even then because we've been through so much for the last four years
00:37:55together it was so bad it was so bad what they've done to the borders what they've done all over the
00:38:01place and uh it's really an honor to be with you all of you incredible and i'm going to give you these
00:38:07coins i think you're going to really like them i think they're the best
00:38:10these are the best ones you have your choice this is gun metal i don't know soldiers like
00:38:17the black but i think you like this one it's okay a lot of soldiers like the black
00:38:23here you go what do you like uh under the black

00:38:55i had an opportunity to sail across the gulf of america two days after you named it right
00:39:19oh wow
00:39:24an honor and now people say it routinely yep they don't even think about the uh that they say it
00:39:29routinely that's been a great honor for me okay
00:39:33i'll take a gold one okay
00:39:41it's almost even i think gold is an edge
00:39:44i would love a gold one thank you so much
00:39:46you could go it picked up at the end right
00:39:51okay that's good so i want to thank you very much and especially that's a great story
00:39:58yes sir so what do you think of a guy like that pretty good
00:40:03they actually uh him we all served together wow
00:40:07and uh and jared over there so you guys oh i forgot so you guys got hit huh pretty good
00:40:14you got hit amazing we're in a pretty tough area in kandahar probably in the arkansas river valley
00:40:20their their unit had a more than 50 percent purple heart rate sir
00:40:23uh in 2010. you deserve it you deserve that and more we appreciate it so much great really brave
00:40:31brilliant people thank you very much do you have any questions of the guys here
00:40:37i want to say thank you to the veterans who are here thank you so much for defending us and then i
00:40:42wanted to ask you mr president because you said you want to bring the tariffs on china down soon
00:40:48how soon do you want to bring the tariffs on chinese goods well that depends on them we have
00:40:54a situation where we have a very very great place it's called the united states of america and it's been
00:41:02ripped off for years and years these people know it we talked about it before you came in
00:41:07we've been ripped off by every country in the world practically and friend and foe
00:41:12and uh we will uh we're not doing that anymore so what's happened is uh we've howard how many
00:41:19countries have we spoken to already 90 90 uh and they all want to make deals we're going to make deals
00:41:29but they're going to be fair deals they're not going to be ripoff deals and you know we were losing
00:41:33almost five billion dollars a year no country can do that and now we have it down almost even maybe even
00:41:41better than even because of the tariffs on cars and aluminum and steel we have tariffs 25 on cars
00:41:48aluminum and steel there's a rush to build new steel plants a rush to build new aluminum plants and a
00:41:55biggest rush i've ever seen that we've ever seen to build car plants we have like 11 of them or
00:42:00something big ones where you guys maybe work maybe you won't want to work you'll do something else
00:42:06instead of that but if you like cars you'd like to work on one of these plants the biggest plants in the
00:42:10world three of them have left mexico before construction started one of them during
00:42:14construction and they're coming to this country they're coming back don't forget and we get along
00:42:20great with mexico but mexico took 32 percent of our car building business so uh it's amazing what's
00:42:28happened remember this number anywhere from three to five billion dollars a day
00:42:34that's not million dollars that's a billion dollars a day nobody can even imagine it and that's what
00:42:41we were losing and you know hence we have 36 trillion dollars in debt and everything else
00:42:46and in the end i think what's going to happen is we're going to have great deals and by the way if we
00:42:50don't have a deal with a company or a country we're going to set the tariff we just set the tariff
00:42:55it's something that we think that will happen i'd say over the next couple of weeks what do you say
00:43:00i think so over the next two three weeks we'll be setting the number we're going to pick could be
00:43:06for china too could be for china well we're dealing with almost all of them uh too many to fully deal
00:43:12with but we're going to be fair to them but we're dealing with a lot of countries right now and uh could
00:43:17be with china but maybe we'll make a special you know a deal and we'll see what it will be right now
00:43:24it's 145 that's very high it got there because of the fentanyl they're sending you know massive
00:43:31amounts of fentanyl into our country and killing a lot of people probably 200 000 plus a year wiping
00:43:37them out you probably all have friends who were killed somebody was killed in your family or your
00:43:42friends with fentanyl and somehow it's made almost exclusively in china and as you know we essentially
00:43:51taxed them 10 and then another 10. we also taxed mexico 25 and we taxed canada 25 and that's the
00:44:01kind of money that's what's pouring into our country right now and it's gotten us down from losing three
00:44:06to five billion dollars a day to actually making money but breaking even let's say but we're going to
00:44:12make a lot of money and that money is going to be used to reduce taxes we're going to get big big tax
00:44:17breaks we're going to you know uh there was a time i said it this morning i think some of you were
00:44:22there there was a time from 1870 to 1913 is a long time ago we were all tariff nation
00:44:30foreign nations pay taxes they paid money to us in the form of tariffs and that was when we were
00:44:36the wealthiest we were the wealthiest proportionately that we ever were and they formed committees in
00:44:42in 1887 in particular but they formed committees to determine what we should do with all the money
00:44:49we had so much money you guys would have loved it we had so much money they didn't know what to do with
00:44:54it we gave it away to different causes and you haven't seen that too much anymore although we give
00:45:01plenty away but now we shouldn't be giving it away we have to take care of ourselves first right
00:45:05absolutely but uh we were very wealthy and uh proportionately the wealthiest we ever we built
00:45:10the panama canal jimby carter gave that away for one dollar by the way one of the most profitable
00:45:16things ever built the panama canal we gave it away for one dollar to panama why i don't know nobody
00:45:23knows but that's what we had we had people like that sitting behind this desk and uh that shouldn't
00:45:28have happened panama canal we spent it was the most expensive thing ever built by our country in
00:45:34history i'm talking relative dollars we've never built anything so expensive i think it was the
00:45:40equivalent of 1.7 billion dollars and uh we've never built anything like that we we built we built a lot
00:45:50of things but never so expensive then we started building other things we had a lot of money to do
00:45:55it all based on foreign countries coming in and paying us tariffs and we're doing that again and i think
00:46:01we're going to make so much that we're going to be able to reduce taxes in this country by
00:46:04a lot and we're also going to treat those countries very fairly but if we don't make a deal which is
00:46:10possible we're going to just set the price because you remember they have to come in they want to come
00:46:15in here and they want to do business with the united states so we want to set a fair price and we'll do
00:46:21that we're going to be very fair but we'll set a fair price and then they can make a determination as
00:46:25to whether or not they want to do business with the united states and i think most of them will and i think
00:46:30we're going to treat them very fairly were you worried about what were you worried about what
00:46:33the 145 percent tariffs were doing to small businesses here in the u.s is that why you're
00:46:38bringing it down no no no i i haven't brought it down i haven't brought it so 145 i said it's a high
00:46:45tariff it is a high tariff but i haven't brought it down it basically means china's not doing any
00:46:51business with us essentially because it's a very high number so when you add that to the price of a
00:46:55product you know a lot of those products aren't going to sell but china's not doing any business
00:47:01they were doing they were doing uh 1.1 trillion dollars think of that 1.1 trillion dollars you know
00:47:10what that is and uh it was just very unfair to us and we were doing very little relatively very little
00:47:16with them it was at one side and very one-sided but we get along i get along very well with president
00:47:21it's in i hope we can make a deal otherwise we'll set a price and uh hopefully they'll come here and
00:47:27they'll contribute and if they don't it's okay on your trip to rome there's a lot of leaders attending
00:47:33the pope's funeral who also said they'd like to meet with you while you're there do you have any
00:47:37meetings set up are you yes i do i have a lot of meetings set up i don't know if i can do it do you
00:47:41want to help me out fellas i have a lot of meetings i got every leader in the world which tells you
00:47:47that we have a good product it's called the united states of america and it's great and these people
00:47:54know about it better than anybody in this room but we have a great uh we have a great place and
00:48:01it should be a lot greater and that's what we're going to do we're going to make it
00:48:05greater than ever before it's very simple who are you going to be meeting with president well i have a
00:48:09lot of meetings set up yeah and are you bringing anyone with you in the u.s delegation to the funeral like
00:48:14secretary rubio or a former president we have a couple of people coming i i'll be we'll announce
00:48:20it probably this evening or tomorrow uh first lady's going and some people are coming with me from
00:48:28staff but we'll have a number of people going it's going to be i'm sure it's going to be a beautiful
00:48:32ceremony i had one on ukraine but i wanted to ask you one about veterans since they are here today and
00:48:38thank you for your service and sacrifice i wanted to ask you about the the cuts that have been made
00:48:43including with the va can you assure that veterans like these men here those that have been suffering
00:48:50from mental health issues for burn pits for example will be taken care of even with the cuts in fact
00:48:58they will tell you it's been better with me than any president in history we had a 92 approval rating
00:49:04which is unheard of up 50 points from the previous administration in my first four years and we're
00:49:10we're doing better now in fact now they have something a call in the call in doctor stuff
00:49:14where it's really become you know it's really become modernized and great where you don't have to go and
00:49:19travel sometimes long distances to get to a clinic or get to the va and i just heard this morning i was
00:49:26listening to doug collins who's the secretary he was being interviewed and the numbers are incredible
00:49:32the the approval ratings are the highest we've i've never heard numbers like this it's better than the
00:49:37first four years so no there's nobody there's no group of people more important than the people
00:49:44in this room and i'm not talking about the media i'm talking about i'm talking about these people
00:49:49right here there's no group and they're going to be taken really well care of that's very important to
00:49:53me and on the war in ukraine are you going to be meeting with president linsky he's asked to meet with
00:49:59you this weekend will you be meeting with him i don't know i don't know that he's going to the funeral or
00:50:03not but i just hope he uh gets this thing solved because we're losing about think of this five
00:50:10thousand i would say two thousand five hundred and everyone was telling me that's low five thousand
00:50:16soldiers are being killed every week approximately think of that every week five thousand soldiers
00:50:23but let's say from three thousand to five thousand are being killed they're russian and ukrainian they're
00:50:28not americans but they're russian but they're people and they're humans they're human beings
00:50:33they have families they wave goodbye to their son and then they get a call that the sun's no longer
00:50:39there it's a vicious war and if i can help solve it you know we're not losing our soldiers but we're
00:50:45losing soldiers a lot of people and if i can solve it because of a certain ability that would be great
00:50:50and if uh if it doesn't happen i will say that i think russia is ready and a lot of people said russia
00:50:57wanted to go for the whole thing and uh they've i think we have a deal with russia we have to get
00:51:04a deal with zielinski and i hope that zielinski i thought it might be easier to deal with zielinski
00:51:10so far it's been harder but that's okay it's all right but but uh i think we have a deal with both
00:51:17i hope they do it because i'm looking to save and you know we spend a lot of money but this is
00:51:22about a lot of humanity this is the worst i get the pictures the satellite pictures i've never seen
00:51:30anything like it of the fields after these some of these battles it's horrible that it's going for
00:51:35nothing we would have never had this problem you would have never had that war if i were president
00:51:39i guarantee you that and for four years you didn't have it
00:51:42i will be meeting in saudi arabia uh it's possible but most likely not i think we'll meet with him
00:51:51shortly thereafter what is this is we're not going to present to the federal chairman jerome powell uh
00:51:58during the by the administration in the campaign with inflation raging he lowered interest rates two
00:52:05times now with two consecutive months of inflation being down all economic theory you learn in the
00:52:13eighth grade says it's time to cut rates when inflation is down he's not done that have you
00:52:19had any direct conversation with him i might call i haven't called him but i believe he's making a
00:52:26mistake by not lowering interest rates and i think as well as we're doing would do much better
00:52:30uh he's keeping rates too high uh he historically has been late except when it came to biden he was
00:52:37recommended by a certain person that uh i'm not particularly happy with but uh he will hopefully
00:52:46do the right thing the right thing is to lower interest rates so we'll see what happens i think
00:52:49we're we're sitting on something that's going to be very good with all the tariff money starting to
00:52:54come in our country is going to be doing really well and hopefully he'll be doing we don't have
00:52:59inflation groceries are down when i first came in you people were there they hit me with the first day
00:53:06that i was president somebody started screaming at me that eggs are up i said i've just i just got
00:53:11here and in the first week they were going crazy you remember that linda they were going crazy they're
00:53:16saying egg prices are two i said i'm i'm here for one week just leave me alone this is a fake news
00:53:23and i said you know what can i tell you but brooke rollins our secretary of agriculture and a group
00:53:29working with her have done an amazing job and egg prices have gone down 87 percent energy now is now
00:53:3665 a barrel they have some energy selling selling gasoline for less than two dollars in a couple of
00:53:42states alabama a couple of great states and but all over the country it's way down from what it was
00:53:48uh six months ago three months ago and that has a lot to do with the war you know if if when when
00:53:57biden allowed energy to skyrocket it just skyrocketed adequate it was out of control russia made a lot
00:54:04more money because they make their money on energy and i kept saying you know he supposedly wants to end
00:54:09the war but he lets energy go out of control well i've gotten it we are drilling like crazy right now and
00:54:15we have it down to 65 dollars a barrel it went up to almost a hundred dollars a barrel and at that
00:54:21number putin and russia made a lot of money so uh i think one of the reasons look i think he has a
00:54:29certain respect for me but one of the reasons one of the big reasons is oil prices are down i think
00:54:33this is a good time to get the war settled thank you just one more question thank you for those of us
00:54:39that live here in the district you said when you came in you were going to make washington dc great again
00:54:44right one of the issues we've got right now is we understand there might be an imminent deal
00:54:49between the owner of the washington football team whatever you want to call them now commanders and
00:54:55locally in getting the redskins back to dc and rfk stadium that's on federal property right are you
00:55:03going to be involved in that negotiation and would one of the stipulations be they change their name
00:55:08back to that right oh i say well that's that's a little bit nobody's asked by that one uh look i
00:55:15think when the the indian population is a great part of this country great heritage and uh we were
00:55:23talking about massapiqua long island the chiefs they call them the chiefs or the kansas city chiefs
00:55:28they're not changing their name a great team great people great owners great coach quarterback i love the
00:55:35quarterback like his girlfriend too his wife his wife is uh his wife is great she's been a big uh
00:55:42she's been a big fan his his quarterback's mother is incredible i like that team they're called the
00:55:47chiefs and frankly uh i see nothing wrong with it they call them the warriors and not that team but a lot
00:55:55of other teams and all of these indian surnames and different names and i'm saying that i think that's
00:56:02a positive thing and when you go back to indians they pull this they they don't know why these
00:56:08names are being taken off they're trying to i think it's degrading to the indian population and
00:56:13it's a great population and they like when they're you know called by various names now uh washington
00:56:20the redskins perhaps that's a little different a little bit different but i can tell you that i spoke
00:56:26to people of indian heritage that love that name and they love that team and i think it's a much
00:56:31you know i think it's a superior name to what they have right now and it had heritage behind
00:56:36it it had something special but a lot of the names having to do with you know different places not
00:56:41just indians but i i think it's they changed the name of the cleveland indians why would you take the
00:56:46name indians off the cleveland indians and now it's called the cleveland something else right guardians
00:56:54uh it just doesn't make sense to me so so you know we're about bringing common sense back to this
00:57:00country and it may be popular or unpopular what i'm saying and i've just said to you she's a nice
00:57:06guy he got a lot out of me on this one but i think most people agree with me it's i think it really is
00:57:12demeaning to indians but to change the name of the cleveland indians as an example to the cleveland
00:57:19guardians is not uh it's not the same and i'm sure it has an impact on the team thank you sir um
00:57:25ilan musk said he'll be stepping back from his work with dojo a little bit and i'll begin that
00:57:29again maybe a day or two a week to it how long would you like to see that continue and how involved
00:57:34would you like to see it continue to be accurate well first of all i can't speak more highly about
00:57:38any individual he's an incredible guy he's a brilliant guy he's a wonderful person i've seen
00:57:44him with his family i've seen him with a lot of his children he's got a lot of children he treats
00:57:49him he treats him good he's uh he loves his children uh but he's a brilliant guy and he was a tremendous
00:57:57help both in the campaign uh and in what he's done with doge and you know we're we're talking about
00:58:05almost 200 million dollars and rising fast because many of the things that we were looking at are now
00:58:10being found out to be fact it's terrible i mean the fraud the waste the abuse the uh everything
00:58:19that's happened is just terrible so uh i also know that he was treated very unfairly by the
00:58:26i guess you'd call it the public by some of the public not by all of it i said he makes an incredible
00:58:31car makes everything he does is good but they took it out on tesla and i i just thought it was so unfair
00:58:39because he's trying to help the country but he has helped the country i also want him to make
00:58:44sure that he's going to be in great shape and i know he is i mean he's going to be he's going to do
00:58:48great he loves the country he didn't need to do this he did it and i i told him i said you know
00:58:55whenever you're ready i'd like to keep him for a long time but whenever you're ready he's an exceptional
00:59:01guy when you see those rockets go up and come back and land in the same gantry nobody else can do that
00:59:07but this man so he's just an incredible person and he's a friend of mine and he's a nice person
00:59:13too he's a very nice person he really helped the country saved us a lot of money and uh i heard him
00:59:19say that he'll start easing which is always he was always at this time going to ease out and uh when he
00:59:25goes back to tesla that'll be taken care of it was just it's artificial these were sick people that
00:59:31thought they were doing something uh he's he really he's a great patriot and he should really
00:59:37it should be uh it shouldn't be the way that should never have happened to him and and i will tell you
00:59:44right now he makes a great product he makes a great product it's a great car it's great everything starlink
00:59:49is great what he does is good he's doing medical things that are amazing and uh we have to at some
00:59:57point let him go and do that and we expected to be doing it about this time and but i'll talk to
01:00:03i'll talk to you a lot about it thank you for the question
01:00:07second question on canada's election coming up how would you have a prediction for that and what
01:00:12do you think the results with respect to canada with the negotiations oh i don't want to predict
01:00:16other nations elections it's tough enough doing this one uh look can i love the canadian people i i like
01:00:26canada but it's costing us 200 billion dollars a year to support canada 200 billion and i say why
01:00:34are we doing that you know what we can make our own cars we have more energy than they do we have more
01:00:40energy than anybody in the world we don't need their lumber obviously we have more lumber we have a lot
01:00:46of lumber we have a lot of everything that they sell us but in particular cars they took a large
01:00:52percentage of the car making and i want to bring it back to this country i really don't want cars
01:00:56from canada so when i put tariffs on canada they're paying 25 but that could go up in terms of cars
01:01:04when we put tariffs on all we're doing is we're we're saying we don't want your cars in all due
01:01:10respect we want really to make our own cars which is what we're doing in record numbers now you know
01:01:16we're going to be at record levels in a very near future because of all the plants
01:01:20the car plants that are being built and i'd rather see them made in michigan and made in
01:01:24south carolina and made in different states tennessee we have a lot of great car making states and we
01:01:32have some that aren't car making yet but they will soon be car making states and that's what i want to
01:01:37see for our country at the same time i want to help canada as to i have spoken to the current prime
01:01:45minister he was very very nice i will say very nice we had a couple of very nice conversations very
01:01:51good but i i don't think it's appropriate for me to get involved in their election
01:01:57if i may add this deal that you have with russia does it include recognizing russia's sovereignty over
01:02:05crimea well everything is good look i just want to see the war end i don't care as long if they're
01:02:12both happy they both signed an agreement uh i have no favorites i don't want to have any favorites i
01:02:18want to have a deal done i want to save their lives now with that being said we're spending hundreds of
01:02:24billions of dollars through biden biden should have never let that war happen we're spending hundreds of
01:02:31billions maybe 350 billion dollars we've given to ukraine and we could use that money right here
01:02:38so i'd like to see that but most importantly right now is when i see the pictures the satellite
01:02:44pictures of the battlefield if i can stop that because of an ability i have to do things i want
01:02:51to see if i can do that mr president on tariffs you just mentioned that 25 could go up in cars in terms
01:02:59of canada does that mean that you're considering uh changes to the auto tariffs and auto cars no we're not
01:03:03considering it now but at some point it could go up yeah because again we don't really want canada
01:03:08to make cars for us to put it bluntly we want to make our own cars and we're now equipped to do that
01:03:16they took a lot of our car business mexico too took a lot of our car business we want to make the cars
01:03:20here i'm running this country i'm not running canada and that's why i asked trudeau who i call governor
01:03:28trudeau affectionately but i asked him why are we spending 200 billion dollars to support canada to
01:03:37subsidize canada and he was unable to answer the question i mean why are we doing that and
01:03:43i have to be honest as a state it works great as a nation uh considering the fact that most of the
01:03:51nation you know 95 of canada what they do is they buy from us and they sell to us they sell to us
01:03:59if we didn't buy their oil if we didn't buy the and we don't need their oil they have more oil than
01:04:04anyone but we don't need their oil we don't need their lumber we don't need their cars we don't need
01:04:07anything so i said why are we doing this why are we spending 200 billion dollars it doesn't make
01:04:13sense if we needed something that would be a different subject so i'm working well with canada
01:04:20we're doing very well we're working on a deal we'll see what happens but again you know why representing
01:04:28this country why are we spending 200 billion dollars to support and subsidize another country
01:04:36because if they didn't have us and if we didn't spend that money as trudeau told me they would
01:04:44cease to exist he said that to me they would cease to exist which is true certainly as a country
01:04:49on tourism on tourism there's been a steep drop off in international travel to the united states it was
01:04:56down 12 percent last month down even more from western europe why do you think that there are
01:05:02fewer people suddenly who want to travel to the united states well there could be a little
01:05:07net there's a little nationalism there i guess perhaps it's not a big deal but you know with
01:05:12the dollar being where it is because you know china would always fight for having a low dollar
01:05:19japan would always fight for having a low dollar meaning a low yen or in the case of china the won
01:05:26they'd always want to have china would own that speak to president xi a lot i'd say it's unfair that you
01:05:31your you know your wand is so low i'd call up a great man prime minister abe great great man shinzo
01:05:41who was uh unfortunately assassinated and i used to tell you he's a good friend of mine i used to say
01:05:47shinzo you gotta you can't let your yen go down it makes it very hard for us to sell tractors it makes
01:05:52it very hard for us to get tourism and our dollar is uh a little bit on the left side and that means that
01:06:00a lot of tourism is going to come in but i could see a little bit nationalism
01:06:04at work and i could see it likewise with us not wanting to go to certain countries but
01:06:10that will work out very easily do you think some people are scared to come here because they hear
01:06:14the stories of tourists who are detained for a few days or even a week or two no we treat our tourists great
01:06:22we're the tourism capital of the world there's nobody no place like this and uh there may be a
01:06:29little bit of nationalism but i doubt it i actually doubt it yeah mr president has there been any direct
01:06:35contact between the u.s and china and trade at all yeah of course every day every day um and then
01:06:42secondly would you support a millionaire tax i think it would be very disruptive because a lot of the
01:06:50millionaires would leave the country you know the old days they left states they go from one state to
01:06:54the other now with transportation so quick and so easy they leave countries you'll lose a lot of money
01:07:00if you do that that would and other countries that have done it have lost a lot of people they lose
01:07:05their wealthy people that would be bad because the wealthy people pay the tax okay so how did the talks
01:07:10today go in london
01:07:12do you think that the asks from ukraine and i think i think they went well i mean you know
01:07:20we've got to get two people two strong people two smart people to agree and as soon as they agree
01:07:27the killing will stop but yeah i think they went well
01:07:29you understand that you uh your economic team many of them are here today jd vance has negotiated
01:07:38what's called a monster trade deal with india my biggest one ever can you share with us what some
01:07:44of the framework of that might be you said england india india india um they're not very complicated
01:07:55these deals it's about the tariffs india charges almost more than any other country in the world
01:08:02and believe it or not we do very little business with india other than the fact that i i like the
01:08:08prime minister very much he's a friend of mine he was here two weeks ago as you know and we stood
01:08:13right outside at a news conference unfortunately the grass was very wet it was very hard for people
01:08:19to stand on the grass they got their shoes all ruined but other than that it was a very good
01:08:25news conference and he's a great guy but we do very little business you know why because their
01:08:29tariffs are so high they have among the highest tariffs higher than china they have among the
01:08:34highest tariffs in the world and i understand they're going to reduce those tariffs but it's
01:08:40really uh it's really sort of their problem not ours we do very very little purchasing in india because
01:08:49and selling we do very little selling i mean harley davidson i said how are you doing in india this is
01:08:55about six years ago they came to lunch as a great american company they make the motorcycles and i
01:09:03said how are you doing in india as an example well we don't do any business there why because the
01:09:07tariffs are too high i said that's interesting well what are you going to do he said well we're going
01:09:12to build a plant in india and that's what they did i don't want that to happen we're forced to build
01:09:18a plant well essentially what we're doing same thing remember there's no tariff when they build
01:09:23their plant here and everybody wants to build because they don't want and the higher the tariffs go
01:09:29the more likely it is they come in and build a plant you know i mean
01:09:31if it's 25 that's fine if it's 50 you'll get more plants 75 you get more and 100 you get more than
01:09:39that and they're all coming in at numbers that nobody's i don't think howard there's ever been
01:09:44numbers like we've seen no seven eight trillion dollars worth in two months because i you know
01:09:50it took me a month to get started in all fairness but in two months we uh we did this and now we're
01:09:57coming up on a hundred a hundred days first hundred days and i think we're going to be close to eight
01:10:03trillion dollars there was never any president did did even a tiny percentage of that okay any other
01:10:09questions one of the deals signed one of the deals signed by your 100 day mark and china is saying
01:10:15that we're threatening and blackmailing them into a deal what would be your response well i mean
01:10:20china look i have great relationships in china with president xi in particular but china has been
01:10:25charging us massive tariffs for many years that's one of the reasons they were able to steal so many
01:10:30of our companies they took our companies out of america and they built their plants in china
01:10:37and one of those things so now we're reversing it but but at levels that nobody's ever seen before
01:10:44no we're going to get along great with china i have no doubt about it thank you very much
01:10:48thank you for us thank you for us thank you thank you thank you
01:11:18thank you
