Armed with 4,000 eggs and a truckload of sugar and cream, French pastry chefs complete a 121.8 metre-long strawberry cake, which Guinness World Records have recognised to be the world's longest ever made. Youssef El Gatou brought together 20 chefs to make the 1.2-tonne masterpiece that took a week to complete and is set out on tables in an ice rink in the Paris suburb town of Argenteuil for residents to inspect.

00:00And I have a result to announce, with the help of the geomètres experts who measured the length of the cake.
00:10I can confirm that it is 121,88 m and that it is a very new record of the world!
00:18In the name of the Guinness World Records, Youssef, the Maison Héloïse, the village of Argenteuil,
00:25I congratulate you for this new record of the world, the longest fraisier of the world!
00:31We have a cake that is 1,2 tonnes, we are at about 4000, and we have 350 kilos.
00:39There are several preparations that are made on several days.
00:42We started almost the last week for the biscuits, the cream, etc.
00:48And this night, we are at midnight and we are at work all the night and all the day.
00:52So, the main criteria for this record is that the fraisier respect the traditional recipe of a fraisier,
01:00that it is composed of cream, fruits and biscuits.
01:05I also see that the cake is uniform, that there is no separation between the different cakes
01:13that have been assembled for the most long fraisier of the world.
01:16So, I am looking at the cake and there is no separation.
01:22Then, with the geometry, we will see that it will be 8 cm of height and 8 cm of height
01:30throughout its length.
01:31And I also wanted to put in front the products of the terroir, so the French fraisier,
01:38the first materials like the lait, the cream, the beurre, etc.
01:42And so, the fraisier, it was a nice product.
01:46And in fact, the story was that the French French had the record in 2017,
01:50the Italians had the record in 2019, and we thought that we were going to take it in 2025.
01:55I always say that the fraisier, it is a classic cake, but it is also a refined cake.
02:03It is a cake that represents the festive moments, the family moments.
02:09And so, with this great family that we have around us, the pâtissiers and the pâtissiers,
02:15we wanted to make a moment of fĂŞte, of partage, of transmission.
