00:10At least nine people were killed and dozens more injured after a massive Russian missile and drone attack on Kiev.
00:17Public viewing of Pope Francis resumed at the St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican on Thursday where thousands of the faithful and mourners joined a long queue to pay their final respects.
00:33According to the Vatican, doors were kept open all night due to higher than expected turnout at a line in state for the Pope.
00:40By Wednesday afternoon, more than 50,000 people had paid their respects to the late Pontiff.
00:47Yeah, so it's pretty early. I got up at 4.30 to be here at 5 a.m., like everybody else in this line, to pay my respects to Pope Francis.
00:57We are coming to see, to pay our last respects to him, to see his body, to pray for him, and to be in union with the Holy Church, Universal Church.
01:08Pope Francis will be buried in a niche within the St. Mary Major Basilica on Saturday.
01:14His death on Monday, at the age of 88, capped a 12-year pontificate characterized by concern for the poor and a message of inclusion.
01:23On Wednesday, the body of Pope Francis was transferred to St. Peter's Basilica procession,
01:37carrying his scoffing enter the Vatican Basilica through the main entrance,
01:43the same route Pope Francis had taken to greet the crowd one last time on Easter Sunday.
01:49He will lie in state inside the Basilica for a total of three days.
01:53Here, mourners can pay their respects ahead of the funeral on Saturday.
01:58And even in death, with his decision to simplify funeral rights, Pope Francis broke with tradition.
02:06Meanwhile, as preparations for the funeral get underway,
02:09thousands of faithful will flock inside the Basilica to see the body of Pope Francis.
02:14He wanted to be a more austere funeral, less monarchical, if we can say it.
02:24He has renounced to many things to give the image that the Pope, yes, is the Pope, but not a monarch.
02:34I think it's a way to pay respect to a person that has shaped the Catholic Church,
02:40but also, I would say, a significant person in the whole world, right?
02:43As a voice in this, you know, very complex world that we are living in,
02:47has been a clear voice, you know, advocating for truth and for justice and nearness to all marginate and poor people.
02:55To see it, to me, to say thank you for what it was, and to remember what he has asked to be,
03:03a missionary to all the people, for this.
03:05L'ultimo saluto.
03:09Noi siamo venuti a Natale, che ha fatto la messa.
03:14A me mi emoziona ogni qualvolta che vedo Papa Francesco.
03:18C'è una cosa che uno sente dentro, con la sua semplicità, la sua...
03:23Quindi, è così.
03:25Hundreds of foreign delegations are expected at the Vatican for Pope Francis' funeral on Saturday
03:39as part of Italy's security plan.
03:44Police are currently patrolling the streets around St. Peter's Basilica,
03:49where the Pope has been moved for three days of public mourning.
03:52On Saturday, thousands of Catholics as well as religious and political leaders from around the world
04:00are expected to attend his funeral.
04:03Security mechanisms, including anti-drone weapons and a no-fly zone patrolled by fighter jets,
04:09are currently being used across Rome and in the skies above the Italian capital.
04:14Pope Francis has broken tradition by asking not to be buried at the Vatican,
04:18but in a simple plume at the Papal Basilica of St. Mary Major, where he frequently prayed.
04:31Rescue teams in Kiev cleared rubble and recovered bodies
04:34after a massive Russian strike killed at least nine and wounded more than 70.
04:39The attack came as weeks of peace negotiations seemed to be reaching a breaking point,
04:44but with no agreement in sight.
04:47U.S. President Donald Trump condemned the attack as unnecessary and badly timed,
04:53imploring his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to pursue a peace deal.
04:56esto es realmente es un
05:13the promises of our wonderful friends from the border,
05:17that they were not just promises,
05:19but that it was the support that we are facing.
05:22This peace, which was on Passover,
05:25it was just to have power.
05:27And today, as you saw, we flew here and in Ukraine.
05:33Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said he would cut short his official trip to South Africa
05:38and return home after the strike.
05:43He added that Ukraine had agreed to a U.S.-proposed ceasefire 44 days ago,
05:49a first step towards peace.
05:51But Russian attacks, he said, have not stopped.
06:00Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has hit back at U.S. President Donald Trump's claims that he's prolonging the war.
06:07Earlier, Trump accused Zelensky of hindering peace efforts
06:11and prolonging the killing field for refusing to cede territory to Russia.
06:15The Ukrainian president has refused the premise of ceding land to the Kremlin as part of any peace initiative.
06:21In a post on X, Zelensky linked an old post by former U.S. Secretary of State under Trump's first term,
06:29Mike Pompeo, where the then-top diplomat slammed Moscow's annexation of Crimea.
06:34Zelensky noted that his country will always act in the interest of its people and according to its constitution.
06:40He also added that his sure allies, in particular Washington, will, quote,
06:46act in line with Kyiv's strong decisions.
06:49Trump says inflammatory comments by Zelensky are making it difficult to settle the war,
06:54adding that his Ukrainian counterpart has been more difficult to deal with than Russia.
07:00I think we have a deal with Russia, we have to get a deal with Zelensky,
07:05and I hope that Zelensky, I thought it might be easier to deal with Zelensky.
07:09So far it's been harder, but that's okay.
07:12The 47th U.S. President also slammed Zelensky and accused him of overconfidence and arrogance in his approach.
07:18Trump said Zelensky has nothing to boast about, warning that if he doesn't strike a deal now,
07:23he may lose his whole country in three years.
07:30Former South Korean President Moon Jae-in was indicted on bribery charges,
07:35accused of accepting illegal favors through a no-show job arranged for his then-son-in-law during his term in office.
07:43Prosecutors say he received bribes worth hundreds of millions of won from a Thai airline founder.
07:52This man allegedly provided wages, housing and other financial support to Moon's former son-in-law between 2018 and 2020.
08:02The son-in-law was reportedly hired at the airline in the director-level role,
08:06despite having no aviation experience and carried out only minor duties.
08:12Moon's allies in the Democratic Party denounced the charges as politically motivated,
08:18accusing prosecutors of trying to discredit the former liberal leader
08:22ahead of South Korea's upcoming presidential election.

09:08They also cancelled visas for most Indians.
09:11It comes after the deadly attack in a town in the Himalayas in Kashmir on Tuesday.

09:29However, Pakistan denied any connection to the attack.
