00:00Good morning from Perth. It's about 6am and the sun has not yet come up. I got in very
00:05late last night, went straight to this hotel here in Perth CBD where I was told don't unpack
00:13too much because you've got to be up at, got to be leaving again at 6.30 in the morning
00:17so a very quick trip to Perth indeed. We're expected to go to 7West Media's leadership
00:23breakfast this morning where Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is going to be speaking.
00:28We're expecting to hear from him today about a critical minerals strategic reserve. So
00:33we'll be hearing all the details of that, asking lots of questions and then off again
00:38this afternoon to another location. We're now in the seat of Bullwinkle in Perth. Now this
00:43is a hotly contested, it's a very windy day as you can see but this is a very hotly contested
00:49seat. It's the newest federal seat in Australia after some margin redistributions. So the Prime
00:56Minister was here alongside Labour's candidate Trish Cook as well as Penny Wong, the Foreign
01:01Minister. They were talking up their latest announcement which is the critical minerals
01:06reserve. The Prime Minister carefully worded his responses to questions about whether or
01:11not this strategic reserve was going to be used as a bargaining chip against US President
01:16Donald Trump since the tariffs have been imposed. But you know he sort of sidestepped any big declarations
01:23of it being you know a bargaining chip or using it as an ultimatum. We're now about to get
01:28back on the bus and head back to Canberra.
