00:00So in 1925 Sheffield was headline news across the entire world and across the British Empire
00:07for all the wrong reasons. An orgy of violence descended on the city particularly in December
00:13of that year and it was also a critical murder that changed the attitudes of the Sheffield public
00:21to the gangs. I was about 15 in Scotland and I read the Sunday newspaper and I seen the story
00:30and when I was reading it it didn't seem real at the time. So when I asked my dad about it
00:38he wasn't too reluctant to speak about it. It was maybe too many bad memories. So I just kind of
00:46said well that's fine no problem you know. But years later as I got older I was more interested
00:52and I realised that you know it was just a part of history and and I'm so proud of my grandfather.
00:59So on Saturday at three o'clock here at 35 Princess Street S4 7UU we're having a tea
01:07and cakes gathering with special guests who are the descendants of William Plummer.
01:13We are having a blessing given by a vicar with permission to operate in this area
01:18and followed by a minute's silence for us all to sort of remember this with solemnity and perhaps a piper.
