The Great Heating Debate: Bridgnorth's Hot Take on Heating Habits!
Transcript
00:01So, when do you think the heating should go off in this fall?
00:04When it gets hot. So, you never know, during your month, whether it's going to be warm or cold, like British weather, as it is at the moment.
00:13We tend to turn ours off when it gets hot. My husband likes to go by months, so he'll go by about now, springtime, the heating should go off.
00:22But I think it's still too cold, so I'll still put it on.
00:25So it can't be a voice of contention, though?
00:27Yeah, definitely. We're always arguing about it.
00:30People say that they argue about six times a week about it. Do you think that's about the average for yourselves, without saying it's too cold or it's too hot?
00:36Potentially, because sometimes in the mornings I'm cold and he's not, so I want to put it on in the morning, especially at this time of year.
00:44I suppose you've probably said, but when do you think the ideal time to actually turn the heating down is?
00:47I think probably heading into the summer, so I think the summer months, because I think spring can still be a bit cold.
00:57So what's your thoughts around the heating up? Do you have a difference in beginning to ask?
01:02A feeling that, yes.
01:05What sort of heating up is it? So basically you sort of saying, well, it's too cold and you're saying it's not?
01:09I'm saying it's too cold.
01:11And I say it's hot.
01:12And does it lead to many arguments about it?
01:16No, I switch off.
01:20Sort of agreeing to disagree in that case.
01:23When this study says that people are disagreeing six times a week about it,
01:27is it about that average for yourselves?
01:28No.
01:29When do you think the right time is to turn the heating off?
01:33When you're too much.
01:35Just in general or a specific time of year?
01:38With the weather right now, do you think that you would?
01:40No, some mornings it's cold.
01:45It's all according to how we've been.
01:49I come from Scotland, so I'm used to the cold.
01:52It's more like when we turn it on, it's like...
01:55It's the house cold.
01:56Do you think it's a bit cold?
01:58No, we're out cold.
02:01It has to be properly cold before we're out.
02:04Do you head to a consensus or do you both have differing views of when it should go off and go on?
02:08Well, we don't really agree, really.
02:10We don't go to agreement.
02:11Yeah, we generally agree.
02:13Sometimes I will say, I'm okay.
02:17Sometimes I can't decide, so I'll have a wee dram and then decide.
02:21No, that's...
02:22One way to agree with you.
02:23I can't wait, isn't it?
02:24No.
02:25So, we discuss it more.
02:27Yeah, we don't talk about it.
02:28Do you understand, though, why people can sometimes argue about the heat that's going on?
02:32Probably, yeah.
02:33Especially when people think about money.
02:36Mm-hmm.
02:37Oh, okay.
02:38I don't know what you've got.
02:39No.
02:40It's just an issue for a lot of people, isn't it?
02:45Yeah, it plays on your nerves if you...
02:46You know, on your electricity bills, or gas, or whatever.
02:50But that's where we used to be, engaging with that noise on the inside of the wind, actually.
02:55Right, okay.
02:56That was cool.
02:57So, you can understand the arguments?
02:59Yeah.
02:59When there are...
03:00But obviously, in two of you...
03:02No problem.
03:03No, it's only a discussion, not an argument.
