NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte met with President Trump to discuss the upcoming NATO summit, highlighting European and Canadian defense spending as a key topic. Rutte praised Trump for pushing NATO allies to invest more in their own security, promising that NATO will grow stronger and fairer with trillions in defense funding. When asked about the Russia-Ukraine war, Rutte remained cautious, noting that the ball is in Russia's corner and Trump's peace deal is still in the works. NATO unity and defense priorities remain at the forefront.

00:00A very good meeting with the President and with his team, with Secretary Rubio and Secretary Hackset.
00:08We have to speed up the spending in Europe, do more ourselves,
00:13so that for the U.S. it is possible for them to spend more time and resources.
00:17We have seen it's now hundreds of billions, now in total 700 billion spent more on defense, on agriculture.
00:23But this will indeed bring in not billions, but trillions more for the coming years.
00:27Thank you all for being available at a very good meeting with the President and with his team,
00:33with Secretary Rubio and Secretary Hackset and Mike Wolfson as the Security Advisor.
00:40We are really all very excited about the fact that we will see a NATO which is spending so much more on defense,
00:46particularly European and Canadian side, more and more making sure that we equalize with what the U.S. is spending.
00:53As the Ambassador here said the other day, it will not be billions, but when you look at it for the years to come,
00:59it will be trillions. And this is necessary to make sure that we stay safe.
01:03So this is really a NATO which is stronger, which is fairer, which is also more lethal in terms of being able to defend NATO territory.
01:13So that was a very good meeting, all very excited, looking forward to the Hague summit with President Putin.
01:17You meant the Russian President. Yes.
01:19So I worked with him for four years between 2010 and 2014. I stopped trying to read his mind. We'll see.
01:25But there is something on the table now, I think, where the Ukrainians are really playing ball.
01:30And I think the ball is clearly in the Russian court now.
01:35When you are in peace talks, somehow you have to negotiate.
01:39But I think I'm not helping a successful conclusion of these talks.
01:42And I really believe that some huge steps have been taken over the last couple of days.
01:47And the London meeting yesterday was successful. But I don't think it helps if I start to comment on itsy-peatsy bits of it.
01:54It doesn't work, so I'm not going to.
01:56We all agree in NATO that Russia is the long-term threat to NATO territory, to the whole of the Euro-Atlantic territory.
02:05We are really all very excited about the fact that we will see a NATO which is spending so much more on defense, particularly European and Canadian side,
02:25more and more making sure that we equalize with what the US is spending.
02:29With TRAM45, what we have seen is now hundreds of billions, now in total 700 billions spent more on defense and agriculture.
02:49But this will indeed bring in not billions, but trillions more for the coming years.
02:59Further over to Europe, should we consider a large asset Being a owner's visa in terms of the nation.
03:08It won't be a family member, but it won't be a hired option for theseạnh negligen.
03:12And if like the public relations wasn't going to, you may be asking for a large deal.
03:16Un commodity protection to how education with kirt is not included with pongy inheritance.
03:20Plus the peace üzere and never stop it.
03:23We'll repeat the peace roll going.
