00:01Catholics in the West African nation of Ghana have served a requiem mass in honor of Pope Francis on Friday evening at Accra's Holy Spirit Cathedral. Catholics make up to about 10% of the population in Ghana a majority Christian nation.
00:18Pope Francis was beloved by many across Africa as he frequently prayed public for peace in ongoing conflicts on the continent.
00:25He's been praying for peace in the world where there is war, he's been praying for, advocating for peace, praying for migrants, for the poor. He's the man of the people, the Pope of the people.
00:43Maxima Misode, who belongs to a different church but came to the Holy Spirit Cathedral for the mass in honor of the late Pontiff, said she was particularly inspired by Francis' teaching on protecting the environment.
00:57He's concerned for the earth, he's concerned for how we need to take care of the earth and that actually propelled us in the Accra Archdiocese together with the Archbishop to take the fight against Galamsee seriously.
01:16So his care for the earth and observing what he does with humanity and the marginalized and all that.
01:24Pope Francis, who died Monday at the age of 88, was buried in a niche tomb in Rome's St. Mary's Major Basilica on Saturday after his funeral in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican.
