00:00At least 11 people were killed and 23 injured after a drone strike hit a
00:10displacement camp in Sudan's River Nile State on Friday, also knocking out the
00:15region's power station for the fourth time. The Rapid Support Forces, RSF, which
00:21denies conducting drone attacks and did not respond to a request for comment, has
00:26repeatedly targeted power stations in army-held areas of central and northern
00:30Sudan. However, previous strikes had not caused such high casualties. The latest
00:35escalation, which further cripples Sudan's power grid and extends blackouts for
00:40millions, comes amid the ongoing conflict as the army attempts to drive the RSF
00:45from central Sudan. A medical official said the pre-dawn strike involved multiple
00:50missiles that set tents ablaze at the camp, where 179 families displaced
00:56by fighting in the capital, were sheltering in and around an abandoned
01:00building near Al Dahmer, about three kilometers from the Atbara power station.
01:05On Friday, authorities were seen extinguishing the blaze and dismantling
01:09the camp, while residents boarded buses to an undisclosed location.
