00:00Does South Australia matter this federal election?
00:05The state hasn't exactly been high on Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and opposition leader
00:10Peter Dutton's travel agenda, but SA could still play a crucial role in shaping Australia's
00:16political future, given its home to two battleground seats.
00:20The Southern Adelaide electorate of Boothby and the Eastern Adelaide seat of Sturt are
00:24considered key litmus tests for the major parties.
00:28Sturt is held by the Liberals on a 0.5 per cent margin, while Boothby is held by Labor
00:33on a 3.3 per cent margin.
00:36In Boothby, the Libs are confident their candidate and former MP Nicole Flint's name recognition
00:41will help them claw back the seat, while Labor claims Mr Dutton isn't popular there.
00:47Sturt is a different ballgame.
00:49Labor's Claire Clutterham would have been buoyed by her party's victory at the Dunstan
00:53State by-election.
00:55The Greens are also bullish after a significant swing at the last election, while Teal Independent
01:01Dr Verity Cooper is a newcomer.
01:03But the Liberals are confident they can retain the traditionally moderate seat, arguing the
01:08Greens and Teal candidate will split any vote against them.
01:12This election could also be shaped by what's happening in state politics.
01:16Premier Peter Malinowskis has featured heavily in Labor's federal campaign material.
01:21The same can't be said for state opposition leader Vincent Tarzia, after a tumultuous 12
01:26months for the party.
01:28But will all this matter on election night?
01:31If it's a close contest, seats like Boothby and Sturt would obviously be crucial.
01:36But more of the focus is likely to fall on the eastern states, where there are far more
01:40crucial battleground seats up for grabs.
