00:08The Vatican has a strict dress code for a Pope's funeral and Pope Francis' on April 26th of 2025 was no exception.
00:15The Vatican requires all male guests attending the papal funeral to wear a formal black suit, black tie and a black lapel pin.
00:22For women, a long black dress with a matching wheel and gloves is expected with minimal adornments.
00:27Even Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, showed up in a suit and Muhammad Yunus, Bangladesh's chief advisor, also daunt a black outfit.
00:35Zelensky had previously said that he would only wear a suit once the war with Russia ended.
00:40Indian President Draupadi Murmu, besides Zelensky, was also spotted wearing glue, an attire consistent with Hindu faith and the sombra mood of the occasion.
00:48Black is the traditional colour for Catholic funerals, denoting grief and respect for the deceased.
00:54Although many other religions don't mandate the colour for funerals.
00:57Former US President Joe Biden also wore a dark blue suit, which was more muted than Trump's.
01:02So, what was the reason for these specific wardrobe selections?
01:05Well, one reason could be that neither Trump nor Prince William are Catholic
01:09and traditional customs surrounding the funeral dress are those of the Roman Catholic Church.
