00:00In the peaceful village of Paparpar, surrounded by green fields and golden sunrises, lived a cheerful little boy named Rehan.
00:09Every morning, just as the rooster crowed, Rehan would wake up, wash his face in the cold hand-pump water, sling his school bag over his shoulder, and walk down the dusty path to his school.
00:22But Rehan was never alone. Trotting beside him on four scruffy paws was his best friend, Togo, a clever, brown-and-white village dog with floppy ears and a tail that never stopped wagging.
00:36Togo wasn't fancy or trained, but he understood everything Rehan said. And more importantly, he never left his side.
00:45Every morning, Togo would walk halfway to school with Rehan, wait by the banyan tree near the pond, and watch the school bell tower from a distance.
00:55When he saw the children being dismissed, he would run the rest of the way to greet Rehan with a happy bark and a flying leaf.
01:03Togo. Rehan would laugh, hugging his furry friend. Did you miss me? And together, they'd walk back home,
01:11sometimes stopping to throw stones in the river or to chase butterflies through the mustard flowers.
01:17Rehan didn't have many toys or fancy clothes, but he had Togo, and to him, that was more than enough.
01:25One day, Rehan's teacher, Master Saheb, announced that there would be a drawing competition the following week.
01:33You can draw anything you love, he said, and the winner will get a special prize.
01:39That evening, Rehan sat under the neem tree, pencil in hand, staring at his notebook.
01:45What should I draw, Togo? he asked. Togo thumped his tail and licked Rehan's hand.
01:51Rehan smiled. Of course. I'll draw you.
01:55He worked every day after school, sketching Togo's soft ears, his bright eyes, and his happy grin.
02:03On the day of the competition, he handed in his picture nervously.
02:07When the results were announced, Rehan's heart raced.
02:11First prize, Master Saheb said, holding up the drawing, goes to Rehan for capturing true friendship in the form of his loyal dog.
02:21Rehan's classmates clapped, and Togo, who had snuck into the school compound, barked joyfully.
02:28The prize was a box of colored pencils and a shiny new drawing book.
02:33Rehan held them tightly, but he knew something else mattered even more.
02:37That his best friend had helped him win, just by being himself.
02:41But not every day was happy.
02:43One monsoon morning, Rehan woke to find Togo missing.
02:47He called out. He checked the fields, the pond, even under the tractor in the shed.
02:54Nothing. Togo, he cried, running through the rain, calling until his voice was forced.
03:00For two days, Rehan didn't eat much.
03:04He kept his drawing book beside him, flipping to the page with Togo's face, hoping he'd come home.
03:11On the third morning, just as the clouds began to clear, Rehan heard a faint bark.
03:17He ran outside, and there he was.
03:19Togo, muddy and wet, limping slightly, but wagging his tail like mad.
03:25In his mouth was a little red ribbon, part of the village fair decorations.
03:29Somehow, Togo had gotten lost chasing the music and colors of the fair, and struggled to find his way back.
03:37Rehan hugged him tightly, tears mixing with rain.
03:41I missed you, Togo. Please don't go far again.
03:44From then on, Rehan tied a little bell to Togo's neck, so even if he couldn't see him, he could always hear the jingle of his best friend nearby.
