00:00We'll see you next time.
00:30We'll see you next time.
01:00Aw, Tango, Elmo loves helping people and giving during the holidays.
01:08It makes Elmo feel really special.
01:11And Elmo can't wait to give this present to her friend Jasmine.
01:15Oh, here she comes now.
01:18Oh, hi, friends.
01:19Oh, Jasmine, hi.
01:20Happy holidays.
01:21Elmo and Tango, happy holidays to you too.
01:24Here, for the holidays, we give you a little present.
01:27Aw, thank you.
01:30Yeah, that's Elmo and Jasmine and Tango.
01:33This is amazing.
01:34Thank you so much.
01:36We painted it, and you see the frame there?
01:38That's all popsicle sticks.
01:40And that was made by Rosita and Grover and Felix and Tully and Cookie Monster.
01:44They eat all the popsicles.
01:46Well, Cookie Monster may have had a couple.
01:50All of us on Sesame Street love to give, especially during the holidays.
01:55Well, Elmo, that's why we're here, right?
01:57We're going to give a very special teacher a big surprise.
02:00Oh, great.
02:01Well, let's get to it.
02:02Let's go.
02:03What a nice school.
02:14Yeah, look.
02:15It's all decorated for the holidays.
02:17Yeah, pretty.
02:18You know, Elmo loves school, and Elmo loves teachers.
02:22They're really important.
02:23Oh, my gosh.
02:24Me, too.
02:24I love school, too, Elmo.
02:25And I think we're about to meet a really great teacher.
02:28Really?
02:28Elmo can't write.
02:29Right, Caleb?
02:31Are you ready?
02:33All right, everybody has to close their eyes.
02:36My name is Amanda Taylor, and I am a theater teacher.
02:38I think theater is really critical, and I think it builds imagination.
02:42I think it builds creative thinking, problem-solving, just real-world skills that kids need,
02:48I think, to go into the world and be amazing humans.
02:51We're going to go up one at a time and kind of introduce our character.
02:56I like Ms. Taylor's class because you get to explore different things.
03:02Theater taught me how to speak in front of people and not be scared.
03:06Ms. Taylor's very welcoming, and she's also, like, very helpful.
03:11She just brightens up the room, and she's very kind and has the best humor.
03:16I think she is the best director ever, and I would totally recommend her to be a movie star.
03:25So we're watching Joaquin.
03:26We're looking at his facial expression.
03:28Ms. Taylor started this program seven years ago, and she came in and created her own framework,
03:33expectations, and we are blown away with everything that she does.
03:37But we don't have a lot of resources for theater.
03:39I love my school, and I love my classroom.
03:42I love that it's unique, but it definitely has its challenges.
03:46I get to see 600 kids a week, and I get to teach them for six years.
03:50I have done everything that I can do to make my room as warm and lovely as I can,
03:56but it would mean so much to me to have somebody else come in and make it amazing.
04:03Look, it's Ms. Taylor's class.
04:05Oh, they're ready.
04:07Should we do it?
04:08Yeah.
04:08Let's do it.
04:09Problems that I've noticed in the past.
04:10Hi, everybody.
04:11Yeah.
04:13Surprise.
04:14Happy holidays.
04:16This is so wonderful.
04:17Hi, Ms. Taylor's class.
04:19Hi.
04:21Elmo, Tango, and Ms. Jasmine are here for a special holiday surprise.
04:26Elmo?
04:28Yeah, yeah.
04:30That's right.
04:30But you're going to have to wait to see it because it says surprise.
04:35You know what?
04:36You know what?
04:36Elmo has some questions, okay?
04:37Okay, so if there's anything that you could change about the classroom, what would it be?
04:42More storage for all of our costumes.
04:44Oh, do you have a lot of costumes?
04:46Mm-hmm.
04:46I think I would add some more seating because half of us are on the floor.
04:50I would, like, get more places for changing.
04:54Mm-hmm.
04:54Okay.
04:55More changing areas.
04:56Yeah.
04:56Because normally we end up doing it before a show in the bathroom.
04:59All right.
05:00Okay.
05:01We better get going.
05:02We have a lot of work to do.
05:03Yeah.
05:03It's going to look very different when you come back.
05:05Are you guys ready for a surprise?
05:07Yeah!
05:09Okay, have a good weekend.
05:10Have a good weekend.
05:12Bye.
05:13Bye.
05:13Bye.
05:13Bye.
05:14Bye.
05:15Bye.
05:15Bye.
05:15Bye.
05:16Bye.
05:17Bye.
05:17Bye.
05:17Bye.
05:17Bye.
05:17Bye.
05:18Bye.
05:18Bye.
05:18Bye.
05:18Bye.
05:19Bye.
05:19Bye.
05:19Bye.
05:20Bye.
05:20Bye.
05:20Bye.
05:20Bye.
05:20Bye.
05:20Bye.
05:21Miss Taylor puts all of her time into making these amazing performances and working with
05:26her students.
05:27She has a heart of gold and her classroom just needs a little bit of a pick-me-up.
05:32Okay, so I want to hear everything about your classroom.
05:35Yeah, but first, Tango has this treat for you.
05:37Oh, Tango, thank you.
05:39All right.
05:40That's what you call a teacher's pet.
05:42Oh?
05:44Well, so this is your desk, huh?
05:46Well, I like it, but I definitely wish it was a little bit more functional for what I
05:50need.
05:50Okay, so what's going on up here?
05:52Is this a stage?
05:53I have a small stage in my room that's great, especially for the younger kids because they're
05:57scared to go on the big stage in the gym.
05:59So you have your wardrobe here.
06:03Oh, Tango!
06:04Tango loves a good costume.
06:07I see a lot of lockers, which are nice.
06:10I think that there's something that we can do with these because at the end of the day,
06:14they're pretty functional.
06:15I think there's actually a lot in this room that we can repurpose and reuse.
06:19That would be great.
06:20I would love that.
06:21Elmo, we need to get a good night's sleep.
06:22We have a lot of work to do.
06:24That's right.
06:24We better get to work if we're going to be ready by Monday.
06:26Hey, you know what?
06:27Can Elmo give Ms. Taylor a hug?
06:28Aww.
06:29Elmo's so excited for you to see what we do.
06:32I'm excited too, Elmo.
06:34Ms. Taylor's done a great job with the classroom that she has, but the actual classroom could serve
06:38them a little bit better.
06:39It just needs a lot of help.
06:41I have so many ideas, right?
06:43Yeah.
06:43There's so much we can do.
06:44Elmo thinks it's really important to help other people because, well, that's what holidays
06:49are all about, you know?
06:50Being kind and treating people with respect and helping people when you can.
06:55And that's kind of what Sesame Street's all about.
07:06Okay, Ms. Jasmine, it's day one.
07:09But, uh, how are we going to fix up Ms. Taylor's classroom?
07:12So the first thing I'm thinking is we definitely need to do something for the area where they
07:16get ready.
07:17So we'll do storage for all the costumes, and I think we should do a place where they
07:22do their hair and makeup, right?
07:23Some mirrors.
07:24Yeah, that's great.
07:24That way they can get ready for the show right here.
07:27Exactly.
07:28And then we need to add a lot of color.
07:31Color?
07:31We can't forget about Ms. Taylor's desk.
07:34You know, every teacher needs a beautiful desk to work at.
07:36And then seating.
07:38Oh, seating.
07:38There's plenty of areas for, you know, all the different things that they're doing in
07:42this room that everybody is somewhere to sit.
07:43Yeah, maybe some new rugs, too.
07:45The first thing we need to do is get everything out of here.
07:49Get everything out of here, okay.
07:50Well, you know what?
07:51Don't worry.
07:52I'm going to bring some friends along to you.
07:55Hello.
07:56We hear the monsters for the job.
07:59And the chicken for the job.
08:01Oh, yeah, that too.
08:02Let's make a food.
08:04Now that we have a plan in place, we have to clear this space.
08:09Oh, that's a lot of crayons.
08:10We have to get everything out so we can start fresh.
08:12I got it.
08:12I got it.
08:13I got it.
08:13One full box coming through.
08:15We're going to do our best to make sure that all the furniture and things get a great
08:18home.
08:18And we're going to reuse everything that we possibly can.
08:21Thank you, Tango.
08:23Wow, this box's light as a feather.
08:26Me wonder what's in here.
08:28Hi.
08:30Let's get building, baby.
08:33If there's one classroom that deserves a big dose of color, it's the theater one.
08:37So we're going to go with a muted rainbow palette, blocks of color that are happy but don't overwhelm.
08:44Wow.
08:45This is a big wall.
08:46Once we cleaned everything out of the classroom, we couldn't help but notice there's this big
08:51blank wall, and it was almost just asking for something.
08:55Wait a minute.
08:57What if we make a mural?
08:59Yes, there's lots of murals on Sesame Street.
09:01That's such a great idea.
09:02There's also lots of murals around this school that I've been seeing.
09:05You know what?
09:06What?
09:07I think I know just the person.
09:09I'm going to go give them a call.
09:10Luckily, I know a local muralist, and I think she could pull this off.
09:15Hi.
09:15Hi.
09:16Hey, Jasmine.
09:17How are you?
09:18I'm here at the school, working in Ms. Taylor's classroom.
09:21There's this big blank wall that I feel like it's just not, I don't know, it's not doing
09:27anything right now, and I feel like it could be so awesome.
09:30Oh, my gosh.
09:30Well, you know I love big blank walls, so tell me what you have up your sleeve.
09:35Well, okay.
09:36I was walking through the hallway, and I saw this sign, which this is kind of Ms. Taylor's
09:41whole motto.
09:42It says, you are smart, you are kind, you are brave, you are loved.
09:46I was wondering if maybe we use this as kind of the inspiration for a mural on that wall.
09:53I love that.
09:55Yes, absolutely.
09:56I am going to grab my tape measure, and you know I'll be right over there.
10:00Okay, bye.
10:01Lanford?
10:02Oh, no.
10:04Mokey!
10:06I'm okay.
10:07I'm okay.
10:07Mokey, use two hands.
10:10If I hold Lanford's paw with two hands, I'll fall.
10:14Yes, again.
10:15I was just checking in to make sure he's doing okay.
10:17I can come get him anytime.
10:19Oh, he won camper of the day, and he's going to get a popsicle afterwards.
10:25Having the time of his life.
10:26Okay.
10:26Okay.
10:31A pair of glasses.
10:57A baton.
10:59And a piece of music.
11:07I'd say, I'll chew.
11:09I have 43.
11:10A little ketchup.
11:11A little ketchup instead of turkey.
11:12Woo!
11:13Woo-hoo!
11:14You know, this classroom is filled with lots of stuff and lots of things to do.
11:19So we have all hands on deck.
11:21All of our friends from Sesame Street are helping.
11:24For the most part.
11:25How are we going to get this through?
11:28Oh, me got it.
11:29Let's turn the doorway.
11:31Oh, yes, of course.
11:33Why did I not think of that, Spencer?
11:35Oh, boy.
11:35The hardest thing about construction.
11:37What would you say?
11:38Concrete?
11:39Steel?
11:40No, no, no.
11:40I think we have to do this clockwise.
11:42Oh, clockwise.
11:42Yes.
11:43Wait a minute.
11:45These helmets are pretty hard.
11:47Oh, yeah, yeah.
11:49Come in.
11:51Hello.
11:52Come on out.
11:53Half of my job here is just making sure everybody stays on task and focused.
11:58Oh, my goodness.
12:00Okay, this is coming along, actually.
12:03This vanity is so important because the kids need somewhere to get ready.
12:06So we're going to build this custom piece, which is almost like a desk.
12:09We're going to add molding.
12:10We're going to paint it.
12:11We're going to add mirrors with lights.
12:13Rosita and Telly, helping with this vanity, go with the grain and maybe a little bit of
12:19bigger motion over here.
12:20Like this?
12:21What's grain?
12:22We have a lot of work to get done.
12:24I can't be everywhere at once.
12:25It's grain.
12:25It's right here.
12:26It's right here.
12:26Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
12:27I've got to trust them.
12:29All right.
12:29I'm going to leave you to it.
12:30You got this.
12:31I'm your monster.
12:32It's okay.
12:36Oh, help.
12:38We're doing a lot of projects, but I think the peg rail is actually one of the easiest.
12:53We'll drill holes, not all the way through, and then the pegs will stick right into those
12:58holes, and that's what we'll hang everything on.
13:02The base of the turbine is coming together.
13:05All right.
13:05Let's see these instructions.
13:06Okay, we've got big pieces and, whoa, really big pieces.
13:12How are we going to lift all this stuff?
13:16Red, what are you doing?
13:17Oh, I'm just trying.
13:21Crew, how's it going?
13:23Hey.
13:24All right, because we really need this thing to be ready.
13:27We're working all together.
13:29We're on it.
13:30There's nothing that we can't do.
13:32Can't stop us when you're so in tune and work as a team.
13:37We take it slow and you can hammer it out.
13:39I don't need to have a plan when I have no doubt.
13:42Because my way is the way that we get things done.
13:45And if we finish this fast, then it's way more fun.
13:48That's one way you could do it, I guess.
13:55We're all on the same page.
13:57You can't stop us when you're so in tune and work as a team.
14:03Hey.
14:04First, play it out and keep it organized.
14:07Everything is better when it stays in line.
14:09Go step by step.
14:11Count one, two, three.
14:12And that, by the way, is how I do laundry with Bob Easy.
14:17Uh, that is not what I'm observing from my standpoint.
14:21You can't stop us when you're so in tune and work as a team.
14:33I just want to sing and dance with my friends.
14:37Because it really doesn't matter if we get to the end.
14:39If it's all about the times we share and the laughs that we have.
14:42And if we get to sing together, will it all be glad?
14:45Smooth enough.
14:46Okay, well, looks like you got it covered.
14:53Yeah, they don't got it covered.
14:55You're going to have to help them.
14:57On it.
14:58A peg rail can be super helpful because it can hang all kinds of weird stuff, right?
15:02That you don't really know what to do with.
15:04I've got Cookie Monster, I've got Grover, I've got Felix.
15:07Gentle.
15:10I don't think they can mess this up.
15:11Now, I need for you to do the rest of the holes.
15:14And then put the rest of the pegs in with the glue.
15:18Jasmine is asking us to make a peg rail.
15:21Can we see those pegs?
15:22Here's the pegs.
15:23We just want to make sure they...
15:25No.
15:26No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
15:28Yeah, we did some really great drilling, didn't we, Cookie Monster?
15:31Yeah.
15:32Yeah, me worked the drill.
15:34And I worked my beak.
15:36I got a splinter in my rear mullet.
15:38You did?
15:39Did you get it out?
15:40No, it's out.
15:40Oh, you did okay.
15:41Yeah.
15:43Done.
15:44okay this desk is so cool yeah it's a great desk miss taylor needs a new desk so her original desk
15:56we donated to a new classroom and we thrifted a desk that's bigger it has more storage so we're
16:02gonna sand it we're gonna prime it we're gonna paint it and it's gonna be a great pop of color
16:07to add in to miss taylor's classroom all we have you have to do is we have to get the old stain off
16:17so we have to sand off the old finish yeah exactly so we'll use that and we'll sand sand here i'll
16:25give you a piece okay thank you this is all gonna come off and when that finishes off we can restain
16:32it or repaint it is this right i almost never sanded before you're doing great yeah so we'll
16:38sand it all off just like this so see how the old stain is coming right off yeah look at that
16:45and then you're doing so good thank you it's so important to repurpose pieces of furniture whenever
16:51we can miss taylor doesn't need a brand new desk she just needs a new desk for her that functions
16:55better than the one she had well you know what i was just thinking this is a really great desk
16:59but i feel like we need really great things to go on it yeah you know you're right we could use
17:04some some things to spruce it up yeah exactly so what if i stay here and work on the desk and you
17:11take tango and go find some students and you can make some really great things for the top of the
17:16desk hey that's a great idea we'll get right at it
17:21oh well elmo and tango are gonna surprise miss taylor with some homemade crafts
17:30yeah that's right tango we're gonna have our students help us make them it's gonna make her
17:36classroom even more special this holiday okay now we're gonna start with some paperweights cool
17:43elmo and tango found a bunch of rocks outside and we're gonna paint them yeah good job tango now we
17:49can paint it whatever we want i think i'm gonna do a snowman yeah we'll do snowman together um elmo
17:55has a paintbrush do you have a paintbrush yes mm-hmm well let's get to work brush brush brush brush
18:06yeah elmo really likes theater a lot do you yes what do you like about the theater hmm whenever
18:13there's a plot twist in the play yeah i like to see people's reaction oh yeah are they like this
18:19what i like about theater is it helps um represent everyone's feelings if you're feeling sad there's
18:33a play for that and if you're feeling happy there's also a play for that oh so you can you can kind of
18:38feel your emotions by playing them cool okay now now that everybody's rocks are dry we're gonna start
18:45gluing them here's something that miss taylor tells us whenever we're using glue she says dot dot and
18:52not a lot oh that's good dot dot not a lot got it i like your reindeer ah cute okay these are gonna make
19:03great paperweights for miss taylor's desk i know i can't wait to give them to her are you ready to give
19:08the paperweight to miss taylor tango yeah oh good girl yeah use the pencil tool to draw
19:15use the brush tool to paint beautiful painting
19:25use the paint bucket to fill in the colors
19:29high five everybody
19:35all right okay who's ready to paint we're almost done we're so close to the end of the day things are
19:42coming together nicely we just have to finish it okay so as we're painting this is just the first
19:46coat we'll probably have to do a couple coats yeah it is a little chilly out here yeah i can use another
19:53coat myself yes me too
19:56not only are we revamping this whole entire classroom we want to make sure it's really personal for miss
20:02miss taylor and her kids hi kids i'm mr pencil and these are my toolbox pals can you help us fix doodleburg

20:43mr pencil and a few nice desk accessories are going to make it feel really personal for miss taylor
20:48i can't wait to see what they come up with okay now we're going to make some planters for miss taylor's
20:53classroom yeah we're going to use these these cans here what are you going to make i'm going to make a mouse
21:00a mouse that's cool oh and what are you going to make i think i'm going to make tango oh that's a great
21:05good idea a tango planter

22:17put some elbow grease in to open oh how do i get down from up here oh me go get a ladder oh thank
22:25you stay there we're getting a lot done but i think i might have to ask my helpers to pull an

26:46That's the Sean, baby.
26:49The green pie.

26:52That's the item.
27:19Einstein helped.
27:32I'm really excited.
28:01I'm nervous.
28:03This classroom has been my baby for seven years since the theater program started.
28:08Oh, here we go.
28:09Do we know this is exciting?
28:10Okay.
28:11Come on in.
28:12Ms. Taylor, welcome to your new room.
28:16Oh, my gosh.
28:21I love it.
28:22It's so bright.
28:23It's amazing.
28:24Yes.
28:25All right.
28:26Thank you so much.
28:28Have a look around.
28:30Emma's really proud of the work we did.
28:32Well, do you recognize your classroom?
28:34No.
28:35We knew that everybody needed a spot to get ready.
28:37Yes.
28:38So, being able to open this up and have all your costumes in one place.
28:41Yes.
28:42Having lots of room for everybody to kind of figure it out.
28:45I feel like this is almost like a giant wardrobe.
28:47One of the things that you mentioned was an area for hair and makeup and for everybody to get ready so they could have a mirror.
28:53We came up with this table that, you know, gives plenty of room and your desk.
28:59I love the color.
29:00I love the size.
29:01It's perfect.
29:02That's good.
29:03So, your students and Elmo and Tango got together and they made you some little crafts.
29:10Just a little personalization.
29:11That's wonderful.
29:12This is so beautiful.
29:14Oh, oh.
29:15Now show it a mural.
29:16This mural is the thing that we really wanted for you and your class.
29:21You bring so much joy to your students and to their families.
29:25It perfectly conveys who we are and who we want them to be when they grow up and go out into the world.
29:35You have been such an inspiration to so many people.
29:39And we just hope that this classroom allows you to continue what it is you're already doing.
29:44We bring brightness and joy and love and the arts to so many folks that might not have it otherwise.
29:51And that's already here.
29:52We didn't change that.
29:53We just made it a little prettier.
29:55It's amazing.
29:59Sorry.
30:01I'm not a person who really is comfortable being celebrated.
30:08I really like to celebrate everyone else.
30:11I think I'm very motivated by loving other people.
30:14And I'm realizing that sometimes you have to let other people love you.
30:18And sometimes that's hard for me.
30:20So this has been a really good experience for me.
30:23Elmo couldn't wait for the students to see what we did!
30:27Surprise!
