A former aide to Health Secretary Wes Streeting has been spared jail after exposing himself to a teenage girl and following her.

00:00A pretty horrific story and political scandal involving a particularly high profile London
00:09councillor. Samuel Gould of Hornchurch was of course a Labour councillor for the borough
00:16of Redbridge in North East London. He was also an aide to the Health Secretary Wes Streeting.
00:24Barkingside Magistrates Court heard on Monday how he was seen by a 13 year old girl exposing
00:32himself in his parked car in Romford on the 8th of March when he then followed this girl
00:39who hid and knocked on nearby flats to try and get help. The court heard how he was also
00:48seen by another woman exposing himself while he was seated in a Mini Cooper with the windows
00:55down on Patricia Drive in Hornchurch on the 9th of February. However he has avoided prison.
01:04District Judge Paul Donegan sentenced Gould to 22 weeks imprisonment suspended for two years
01:12after he pleaded guilty at the same court last month to two counts of exposure. Gould was
01:18made subject to a seven year sexual harm prevention order meaning he cannot contact girls under 18.
01:28He must also pay £239 in legal costs. Gould resigned from his roles with Mr Streeting and
01:36Redbridge Council and was suspended from the Labour Party after his conviction.
