00:00Hello everyone, this is Just a Dad. I'm going to do a quick simple review on the Mr. Coffee 12 cup coffee maker.
00:09I bought it at Walmart and I'm going to give it a try. It's about 17 bucks. I'm going to open it up here.
00:30Put the bag around it.
00:48Take the bag off.
00:53It's got some tape for the...
01:12So that's not wanting to come out.
01:18I don't want to break anything so let's just...
01:23That was a little tight so that's going to be a little tricky getting that off but I think if you lift up on it and pull it towards you it comes out okay.
01:38So overall it's made of plastic. It's pretty cheap feeling but I think you know sometimes these things come last.
01:46I had a cheap Mr. Coffee. That thing lasted about 10 years off and on with off and on use.
01:52So it's got a switch on the front. No other switches.
01:59Pretty small cord but sometimes that's good and you don't have a bunch of cord on your countertop.
02:05It's got this nice big opening so you got to have some room underneath your countertop to open this big opening here.
02:14And then it looks like this goes out of the way and you can lift your basket up.
02:19Now I do like this, this. So coffee is not going to come out until you've got the coffee pot underneath it.
02:26So that is a nice feature.
02:31It doesn't look like it just pops in there and that's it.
02:36And this just moves out of the way.
02:40So you're going to put the water right here.
02:43You're going to lift the lid up and you're going to put the water.
02:46It does have a nice sight here on the side.
02:51So overall the first impression is pretty nice.
02:55I do like that. It's hinged.
02:58And it looks like you can take it off.
03:05So I'm sure you can throw that in the dishwasher.
03:11So I do like this. This is nice. This looks like nice glass.
03:14You can get your hand in there and clean everything.
03:19That's really important.
03:21So yeah, all in all, the first impression is pretty nice.
03:29That's a little.
03:35So that's pretty hard to get on and off.
03:44I'm not going to break it.
03:45That was pretty hard to get on and off.
03:47So that might be a little tricky washing it a bunch.
03:50But maybe so that I could see that being a weak point.
03:57So it's going to sit underneath there.
04:00And so far I like it.
04:03I do like this part.
04:04So if the coffee doesn't come out directly on it, it is concaved here.
04:12So if it comes out over here, it's going to drain into this.
04:14So it's going to catch it all no matter where you get the coffee pot.
04:17If it's kind of off the side or something, it's going to at least go in there.
04:21So that's nice.
04:22Okay, this is just as dad again.
04:29I've got everything unpacked.
04:31It does come with an instruction manual.
04:33It's very simple.
04:35Just unplug it when you're not using it.
04:37Plug it in.
04:38It says this basket.
04:40Everything is dishwasher safe.
04:41Like I told you the lid.
04:43So this just takes standard 8 to 12 cup filters.
04:51And like I said, this swings out of the way.
04:55And you can lift this up.
04:57Now it's got a little thing that says back.
05:01So that goes in the back.
05:03But you know, I can see where you might get this a little off maybe.
05:08I've been playing around with it.
05:10But it seems like when you get it to the back, there.
05:14It just kind of goes, but it is kind of loose.
05:16Make sure you put that over.
05:19So I filled this up with 12.
05:21I'm going to do a 12 cup.
05:23Now the instruction manual says one tablespoon for every cup.
05:29That equates to almost a cup of coffee.
05:34I only use a half a cup.
05:36So I'm probably making it kind of weak.
05:38But I'm going to go ahead and do what it says.
05:41So I've got the filter in there.
05:47And I'm probably going to want to get it in the center.
05:50So I should have moved this out of the way.
05:52Then dumped the coffee in and then put that back.
05:56So, and it's got this on off switch in the front.
05:59It's got a light.
06:00The light's not really bright.
06:02So I'm going to turn it on.
06:05I'm going to pour my water in.
06:10Kind of leaked.
06:15And I'm going to put it in there.
06:16I've started the timer.
06:20So it says this is a 12 cup.
06:24It didn't really give me a timeframe on when it was going to be done.
06:28But I'm going to, we're going to watch it here.
06:30It might take a couple.
06:48Pots of coffee through it too.
06:52Water just doesn't look super, super hot.
06:59But we're going to.
07:08Yeah, the water just doesn't come out.
07:10You know, it comes out in one spot.
07:11You know, there's coffee grounds everywhere.
07:13So, but it's got a long ways to go.
07:18I did notice there was a hole.
07:20So you can't overfill it.
07:22And the 12 cups brought it up to almost to the bottom of that hole.
07:26So, but if you fill it up too far, it's going to leak out that hole and then leak onto your counter.
07:32I'm not sure that makes a difference.
07:42I'm sure they want you to have it down, but.
07:45I guess I was just kind of expecting the water to come out.
08:01Kind of at a hot steam or a hot, kind of cover everywhere.
08:06But probably what's going to happen is it's going to fill that basket up.
08:10So it's going to saturate that basket.
08:12So eventually the water will.
08:24The water goes.
08:40So I've got my timer going.
08:45We're right at the three minute mark.
08:46You can see it's.
08:47It's only up to about the four.
08:50Not quite the four cup.
08:53Mark.
08:56So it's got this feature they call.
09:00It's called grab, grab a cup auto pause.
09:03And that's that part I showed you underneath there that.
09:05That pauses whenever you want to get a cup.
09:08I'm going to demonstrate that too.
09:10Okay.
09:11So we're right.
09:12Say you're in a hurry.
09:13You want to grab a cup and you're going to leave the rest for your spouse.
09:16So you're just going to, I'm just going to try it.
09:17We're going to grab it.
09:19So it did drip a little bit and you can pour it.
09:25And then it picks back up again.
09:28So let's try it again.
09:30So you do get a couple of drips.
09:31It's going to burn on there, kind of stink up, but it is an option that you do have.
09:37And probably the biggest thing is most people will use, we'll use this to fill the reservoir.
09:47So it gives you time.
09:48So as you're filling the reservoir, you're dumping this in that, that hot coffee could start to come out.
09:53And that's going to be real helpful.
09:54That's going to keep the coffee from coming out until you get this underneath there.
09:57And then it should start coming out.
09:59I have ran into that before where if you don't get the coffee pot underneath there fast enough, coffee starts coming out.
10:08Okay, so we're right at the five minute mark.
10:11This is six cups of coffee are filling up.
10:15You can see the grounds are really saturated on this one side where the water comes out.
10:20They're starting to get saturated on the other side.
10:23I think my dog Fiona needs some coffee.
10:28She's ready for a nap.
10:29So again, you can see, you know, the water's going down in the back.
10:35It's got a good smell to it.
10:38You can tell there's a coffee aroma.
10:40It's brewing coffee.
10:41The grounds are wet all the way across.
10:46So water is getting all the way over to the other side.
10:54You've got that standard percolator action.
11:00We're at the eight cup mark.
11:03And my timer's at seven minutes.
11:06So something else I wanted to show you is the light.
11:09Uh, it's, it's a really dim light, but at least it does have a light.
11:13So it's, you know, if it's on or off, some of these things have that line and circle.
11:17And I can't remember which one's on or off.
11:19So sometimes you just don't even know which way is which, but this is nice.
11:22It does have a light to tell you which way the switch is on.
11:26Like I said, it's just got the standard percolator sound that you normally have.
11:35Okay. I want to do a closeup.
11:36There's that valve.
11:37I told you that it pops down whenever you go to take a cup out.
11:41So it does drip a few times, but at least it stops the majority of the coffee coming out.
11:45And when you put it in there.
11:47And so if the coffee pot is off a little bit, you know, it's still going to go into the coffee pot.
11:54That's the main thing.
11:55I like the design of that lid other than it was kind of hard to get on and off.
12:02So towards the end of this, we're at the nine minute mark.
12:05We're starting to get some splatter up onto the lid.
12:07So this is probably a good time to keep the lid closed.
12:10I've got it up just for demonstration purposes.
12:13Looks like we've reached the end of the water.
12:15We've got that good steam action going.
12:19So this is probably where that valve comes in handy.
12:29So we're at the 10 minute mark.
12:31You're at 11 cups.
12:33The thing's going to sit there and it's going to drip for a while.
12:37So this is probably when you want to get your coffee, get your pot of coffee.
12:41You're going to want to go pour it and then throw it back underneath.
12:44Because it does seem like it's taking a while for that last bit to come out.
12:50And I did put 12 in and I got about 11 and a half.
12:55So it's done brewed.
12:5710 and a half minutes.
12:59And towards the end it really started percolating the hot water and getting to the grounds everywhere.
13:06I'm going to just poke around.
13:08So it looks like water did get to all the grounds.
13:11It didn't at first.
13:13They all seem pretty saturated.
13:18So it's kind of like a standard pot of coffee.
13:20Okay, so I got a thermometer.
13:24I'm going to actually check the temperature of the coffee.
13:28Right around 164, 165.
13:35Let's pour a cup.
13:37I'll see how it pours.
13:38It pours fine.
13:43So in my coffee cup.
13:44About the same.
13:45So let's check the burner.
13:50Oh.
13:51Oh.
13:52Oh.
13:53Oh.
13:54Oh.
13:55Oh.
13:56Oh.
13:57And the burner is about 170.
14:04Okay, so I tried the coffee.
14:11It didn't taste that much different from when I used just a half a cup.
14:18So it might have been a little stronger.
14:19I put cream and sugar in it so I may not be the best on this taste.
14:25But now I'm going to show you how.
14:26Now I'm going to show you how.
14:27So you're going to move this out of the way.
14:28I never talked about that.
14:29And you're going to lift the basket up.
14:30I'm not sure what we're going to do with this.
14:31So you probably, you probably let this cool down.
14:32Okay, so I tried the coffee.
14:33It didn't taste that much different from when I used just a half a cup.
14:38So it might have been a little stronger.
14:41I put cream and sugar in it so I may not be the best on this taste.
14:45But now I'm going to show you how.
14:48So you're going to move this out of the way.
14:51I never talked about that.
14:52And you're going to lift the basket up.
14:55I'm not sure what we're going to do with this.
14:59So we probably, you probably let this cool after a while.
15:02And then you're going to take it to your trash can.
15:05So you can grab this.
15:08It's not, this is hot.
15:10But these handles are not hot.
15:12And that's where that valve comes into play again.
15:15So when you're going to take this to the trash can,
15:17there's going to be some residual water in there.
15:19And you're not going to, it's not going to spill.
15:21So that's pretty nice.
15:23So I know some people might be inclined to take this off.
15:27I've looked at it and I don't think it's supposed to come off.
15:30I think you might break something.
15:32You know, you might have to wipe it off just from some coffee spilling up on top of it.
15:36But I'm not going to take that off to put it in the dishwasher.
15:41So these are what you're going to clean up.
15:43This is what, after you throw the filter away,
15:45you're going to put these in the dishwasher.
15:48So here's a close up of that valve I was talking to you about underneath the filter basket.
15:55So when the coffee pot is underneath, it's going to push that up.
15:58And then there's a little mechanism where it lifts up and lets the coffee out.
16:02So it's not 100% spill proof.
16:04We didn't get a few drops coming out of it, but it does work pretty good.
16:07Okay, so I'm doing my second pot of coffee and it looks like the water is coming out the same.
16:13At first, it's kind of a stream, but it is kind of soaking up all the grounds.
16:19So the water goes in, but it does kind of, so all the grounds are getting soaked,
16:23even though it only goes in on this one spot.
16:28Thank you everyone for watching my video.
16:31This is the Mr. Coffee 12 cup switch coffee maker.
16:34I got it from Walmart.
16:36I think you can get it off Amazon too.
16:38And again, my videos are just simple videos.
16:40I'm just trying to, I do videos because I just want to help people.
16:43So if you, before you get this coffee maker, if you want to see how it works, how it unboxes,
16:48it's a pretty simple design.
16:50I think it's going to produce, produce pretty good coffee for me.
16:53So again, thank you.
16:55Please like, and subscribe.
16:56This is just a dad.
