Central West producers feel blindsided by a proposed 1322-hectare solar project five kilometres north of Geurie.
Transcript
00:00This is our beautiful property for the last 15 years and now for this aspect the
00:07proposed farms would be going over where that all that nice lime green area is
00:13that would be probably solar panels. This fence line here is like the
00:19demarcation line and that would likely be solar panels from that horizon right
00:26across here, bright spots here that pass these crags across that paddock over there
00:36and then hide those trees there and all into that far paddock over there. The area
00:44is quite a significant area there's 3,000 acres or over a thousand hectares in the
00:49new scale and as from this plan here you can see there's Geary, little township of
00:55Geary and the red zone is the proposed area and my green zone is my little
01:01property surrounded by the solar farm. There's a little town of Wongarbon and
01:08that's the main highway through Ddubbo so you can see the size and complexity of
01:13this project is very significant. The impact of where my farm is, I'm surrounded on
01:20all three sides so from about that angle there on this beautiful view all the way
01:28through on that hill there is part of the red zone so potentially could be solar panels and a very high
01:35security fence around it right around that horizon on the other side of those trees
01:41that's part of the red zone so just imagine solar panels all the way around that whole skyline
01:49it goes all the way around the house so it's about 270 degrees of salt panels.
01:58Diane contacted Venn Energy with questions regarding the consultation process, project
02:03design, community impacts, economic concerns and transparency however the
02:08company declined to comment.
