00:00This year we looked at 51,238 properties and once again we found that the state of
00:07the rental market in terms of affordability for people on low and even
00:12middle incomes is absolutely dire. Out of those 51,000 properties not one was
00:19affordable for someone living on youth allowance. Only three, not 3% but three
00:24was affordable for somebody on JobSeeker or rooms in share houses and even when
00:31we look at the age pension which is the more generous of the of the income
00:36support payments we can see that only 0.7% of properties would have been
00:42affordable for a couple living on the age pension. Perhaps one of the more shocking
00:47figures this year is that even for people on the minimum wage a single person
00:52working full-time on the minimum wage would only have been able to afford 0.7% of
00:58these properties. That really does show us that the rental market is not working.
