During his Thursday press briefing, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) was asked about the potential vacancy to the House Oversight Committee ranking member position.

00:04but now you have several of your members that are openly jockeying for that ranking member position.
00:09At what point do you think your leadership team will make a path forward for the future of the leadership of the Oversight Committee?
00:16And are you entertaining the idea of allowing Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to have a waiver so that she can run for the ranking member slot?
00:25I don't want to speculate about the future of the Oversight Committee.

00:30Well, the rules are pretty clear that when there's a vacancy,
00:36the caucus under the leadership of Chairman Pete Aguilar would have to call an election within 30 days.
