00:00Jeremy Renner is revealing why he turned down returning to Disney Plus for Hawkeye Season 2.
00:07Renner revealed that the reason he decided to shoot down the idea of another season
00:11was because he was allegedly only offered half of his original Season 1 salary.
00:17He called the powers that be at Disney the penny pinchers
00:20and noted this happened after his devastating 2023 snowplow accident,
00:24which nearly cost him his life and took months of rehabilitation to recover from,
00:29adding insult to literal injury.
00:32While on the High Performance Sports podcast, Renner said,
00:34They asked me to do Season 2, and they offered me half the money.
00:38I'm like, wow, it's going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money.
00:42Eight months of my time, essentially, and you do it for half the amount?
00:46I'm like, I'm sorry, why?
00:47Did you think I'm only half the Jeremy because I got ran over?
00:50Is that why you want to pay me half of what I made on the first season?
00:54A Disney insider contacted by The Hollywood Reporter disputed Renner's claims,
00:58but did not get into specifics.
01:01Added Renner,
01:01I told him to go fly a kite at the insult offer,
01:04and we didn't see eye to eye on it, sadly.
01:06I still love the character.
01:08I would still love to do it, but I had to defend myself.
01:10I didn't ask for any more money, mind you.
01:13Just pay me what you paid me the first season.
01:15It's unclear if or when Renner could return to Marvel.
01:19He was not among the cast announced for Avengers Doomsday,
01:22though more castings are to come.
