use Linux, don't throw away your old computer.

00:00we today we're going to talk about another yet another few reasons why you should consider
00:08leaving microsoft that to punish or at least put pressure on that company
00:17large companies exist you know that i live in north america you know and they have resources
00:23they i'm sure they do good stuff sometimes but you know sometimes they go unhinged
00:31i remember to not to deviate from the subject but i remember in 2007 and 2008
00:40the banks of large banks destroyed the country and none of those
00:45criminals went to jail not even a single not a single one
00:50uh until they got bonuses so this is another this is a similar example of a large company that is
01:01embedded itself in our corporate financial and educational institutions where they demand
01:09uh that people use their products in many ways not by decree perhaps but they demand by tying those
01:25services all together so the company itself or the individual cannot leave microsoft or at least have
01:34to have one machine that is windows based i i give you an example schools used to be like they want
01:46especially like in if you take online classes many many schools around the country use
01:54lockdown browser which only exists on windows and apple i think maybe apple
02:01uh some uh some uh some uh some trivial stuff like uh if you take a writing class they uh they require
02:15that you edit your document with microsoft not with libra office or open office or all those wonderful
02:23programs out there nope it have to be a font from microsoft that doesn't exist of course there's a way
02:30work around it you can always work around it you can always edit your document you know it was online
02:38versions but but still that's like a hassle a hurdle to force the students to buy window machines
02:48and now again in this month the majority of consumer computers will be
02:58not eligible for updates for windows 11. so you'll talk about massive e-waste
03:05in the time where our economy is not doing great and of course we know the trump and the tariffs and all
03:12this so those are the computers can skyrocket which perhaps mean means more new computers with high prices
03:23meaning meaning meaning more profit margin margins for microsoft and companies like that so
03:34do not don't be a mule take in charge of yourself and i will i'm gonna list few reasons that you and i know
03:43about but just serve as a reminder that this company need to be
03:53punished in many ways a good company no matter what kind of business you are small or big
03:59should be based on services to the consumers not the other way around where they
04:05force consumers to do what they want
04:09so it is uh let's talk about the first thing i'm going to talk about is the onedrive
04:16you know i actually today or yesterday i no today i opened this computer and i deleted the onedrive
04:23from it from it um it took me a while but i always like this try to disconnect the onedrive from it
04:32but sometimes you forget sometimes update happen and will connect itself somehow i'll find it connected
04:39somehow so the onedrive is a very very good example about how and what microsoft think of you
04:51the consumer it's customer it's customer that's supposed to provide services
05:00the customer that made bill gate and the like very very rich you know so it showed a lack of respect
05:10but for example if i there are many uh services similar to onedrive
05:16that um you don't have they don't come embedded in your computer and definitely you have to you have
05:24to actively activate them in order for you to to use them and most people for example the onedrive
05:35most people log in on the computer and now especially with the the new order from microsoft with
05:43uh only uh no longer they're gonna use passwords they're just gonna use those biometrics and uh with the
05:56ptm you know so you're gonna be always hooked to the computer through your account
06:03so you're most likely for most people the onedrive gonna be automatically on
06:09on which mean whatever your stuff you put on your desktop and other files it will transfer to microsoft
06:19and all the sudden microsoft will actually only give you two gig of uh of space all the sudden they might
06:28like uh and i'm sure that that will probably work on older people well i am older but older uninformed
06:36people will tell them you have to pay this and that and some kind of scare tactic which show
06:44the depth that this company is going to milk its consumer so this is number one issue you know with
06:57with microsoft with windows especially the product windows because microsoft is more moving into
07:06agile and this these services that online services that they are they are you know hoping schools and
07:17universities and businesses too you know so and they want everybody to be online
07:26hook to them and anyone who lost microsoft account they probably will tell you that there is no customer
07:35service when you need them okay another reason let's go look at this so this is the the current as we speak the current
07:44uh the current usage of my computer uh uh the current usage of my computer uh despite the fact that you know
07:56you know it have my cpu for some reason is 10. if i was running linux i tell you it would be close to zero but
08:06you know and this is a very good cpu i have on this computer this computer is relatively strong
08:11um uh let's say the ram i have seven out of 16 and i'm not really running games or anything
08:25you know and you know so and and of course the bloat windows is famous for bloat uh id bloated this uh
08:36uh program that i have on this machine uh about like a year ago and uh it's still a hefty program in many
08:46ways um so and but the reason for this that ram to be blotted like the like that is uh always a mystery
08:58to me and my my hunch and this is not something i know but my hunch is because microsoft is always
09:07pulling data from your computer it doesn't have to be data like from the onedrive there's many other
09:13data parameters locations uh god knows maybe search history whatever it is you know so not a data that
09:25we think of not every data you think of is like pictures of all files and stuff like that that you
09:30save so this is another reason why you should avoid and try to get from under the
09:43the yoke let me use this educated word the yoke of microsoft you know uh oh yeah glitches and bad
09:54performances uh any anyone of course who uh too large uh and uh uh anyone you who have windows most of us
10:12all of us have probably had windows uh have windows or had windows at some point of our life we'll get
10:18the glitches the freezes the blue screens you know and these things on despite they did get better a
10:27little bit but they really didn't you know like they are not you know too large
10:34uh fill up with use i don't know i couldn't like word it somewhere else but if you open multiple multiple
10:44applications and even if your computer is good it will if after a while it just jams you know
10:54uh and use all your resources so like this is
10:58uh this is like another reason why you should avoid this place okay okay i'm gonna talk about lack
11:10of privacy and your choices we talked about the onedrive and the choices about onedrive this is an
11:15example of lack of respect to your choices and i'm gonna talk about privacy and i'm gonna ask you
11:23you uh who you trust more you put your password at home with you or you have your password with someone
11:42else and if the answer is latter then you know i can't argue with you but i find that
11:54uh especially a few years ago when i start to switch to linux i find that it's i feel more secure
12:04knowing that my computer and i'm using my own computer my own password nobody know my password
12:13of course you can always argue somebody can steal your password well if somebody steal your password
12:20most likely if they're gonna steal it again these days they're gonna steal it from the cloud somebody
12:24live with you gonna steal your password probably they're gonna you know your pen from microsoft you
12:30know because you live with them so they're gonna use a pen you know and all this and this is uh
12:38this is unnecessary precaution that in my opinion make your
12:49make your in putting your information in the hand of a company not even another individual you're talking
12:56about like a company large company that's most likely outsourced everything in it you know how those
13:03companies make money putting your information somewhere like that with glitches and uh and this is
13:11a very old company so imagine the bureaucracy and all this putting your password which is the door for
13:19you you you you to access your computer in the head of a company is a foolish thing to do you know
13:32uh and of course i'm gonna i'm gonna say ask anyone who who had his his or her microsoft account
13:41hacked you know no customer support and i i i talked from my my co-worker uh he's a gamer
13:52and this something happened to him and he had to basically buy a new window by sin and start the whole
14:00thing again he they didn't help him at all you know when somebody hacked into his he had to go to his
14:08banks and change stuff but but uh okay and i'm gonna say the last one perhaps maybe not uh not gonna be uh
14:22pleasing for many people but like this is we're gonna talk about the microsoft involved in the genocide in
14:33gaza and using the ai artificial intelligence basically i assume phone data to target people mostly civilians
14:49to target the cluster of people also you know and this is very shameful for any company you know to do so
15:00and uh if you have uh if you if all the other reasons i i i mentioned not good enough for you maybe the moral
15:12reason will be good take charge of your of your computing uh behavior take charge of your computer save yourself money
15:24if you can if you can if you can and i know it's very hard to switch to operating system like linux
15:34but this is my you know you can try other ones of course the apple and all this they are more expensive
15:41but but if you are on a budget if you want true freedom where you truly own your computer
15:50uh switch to linux stay away from windows if you are a student if you are uh somebody who work with
16:03a company i actually mentioned that the company i work for i asked them about the dilemma they have with
16:09the with the in the in the in the branch i live i work at is about more than 150 computers and i told them
16:18this is like why not just switch them to linux you know they didn't listen to me i assume and i'm sure they
16:24won't but you know like imagine all these computers computers are really good powerful i know that the computer that i have at my
16:34my my work you have like uh half a gig of uh ssd uh uh what is it i think at 16 16 no maybe eight eight gig of ram
16:51this wasn't it's not a it's not a bad computer 12 gig of ram i think that's what that you know you know like so it's not a bad computer it run a fast cpu
17:03it doesn't run great because it has windows but like nevertheless if they that company went and
17:10switched to something or something like that you know yes the it department will uh will uh
17:20will have to work over time to secure them but they can and you know they're gonna work over time to put
17:26the new computers soon you know in the in service and then they have to pay fees like tremendous fees
17:34for microsoft if they do that and actually you know like they will they will help them so if you are a
17:43worker you can mention that to your to your uh or if you're a business owner especially if you're a small
17:50business owner it makes perfect sense to move to linux because even if you have a site that is built
18:00you know on a server most of those servers especially for small business they use
18:08mycql and they use php and all this so like they are on open source then they are probably the whole the
18:17servers on linux so it will actually make it easy for you to have to move and that's something we can
18:25all do and we can all win we can all win if you are a student and if you're taking online class or
18:35maybe you should tell your school can i can i have my one drive can we have a different program
18:43petition them if more than one student bring it up they can do if you are a student who can go
18:50to the school let's say you're not hundred percent not every class you're taking online you can maybe
18:56go to a testing center for a little bit you know and and if i actually will try to figure out how to
19:06make one drive work on linux we'll see if i will succeed if i will have time i can i don't want to
19:12promise but uh but uh there is uh of course with uh with that if you have if you're taking i remember
19:22when i took word when i took english and or any writing class that they will tell you it have to be
19:30microsoft whatever font so you know but like you can these days the good thing about that these days they
19:38have microsoft uh cloud you can edit the final page to have that theme they want so we all can do a
19:50little bit of a little bit to be more independent even if we don't succeed completely but i know i still
19:59have having the machine that i don't open often but you know but sometimes i need it and i have to use it
20:09and this has been a struggle and this is not because the other operating systems are inferior this is
20:15because it's a system a large system that require you you know to to do to use this product so
20:30summary don't be a mule you know don't settle for a glitch and bad performance
20:39lack of respect don't settle for lack of respect and no customer service those people don't settle for
20:47uh you know uploaded an insufficient operating system
20:55uh you know and of course be on the good side of history and that is it have a good day
