00:00Hi, I'm digital reporter Amy Seddon. The owners of a Smashburger burger trailer are gutted after
00:07being forced to shut down by the council because it was too close to local primary schools.
00:13Co-owner of Smokey's Sam Cowell spoke to SWNS about their troubles. Watch that video next.
00:24Hello, my name is Sam. I'm part owner of Smokey's and we've been running here at the Dunkirk Hall
00:29since November last year and as of recently we've applied for planning permission and it's
00:35been refused by the council and the planning committee due to it being a grade two listed
00:39building and a historic building and the fact that it is in close proximity to schools which
00:45apparently is promoting unhealthy communities for children and in regards to the obesity levels
00:51in year six and reception children. So we've been refused for being in close proximity to schools
00:58but the closest school is actually half a mile away and we're not open in school hours so
01:03we do think it should be rethought and hopefully we can get a decision overturned and sort something
01:10out with the council.
