Mumbai, May 6, 2025 (ANI): On an exclusive interview with ANI, Bollywood film maker Mahesh Bhatt spoke on US President Donald Trump’s announcement of imposing 100 percent tariff hike by US government for foreign films. He further added that according to his understanding, this will affect everyone including the distributors. He said, "... This was bound to happen. But now it is very important to see what effect it will have, will it affect streaming content as well? What I have understood is that there is a huge demand for Telugu films there, and this will affect everyone, and the distributors who used to pay Rs 100 will have to pay Rs 200 now, so obviously the flow of films will reduce..."

00:00But sir, today America has 100% tariff. How do you see it in Pakistan?
00:30What impact is happening is very important to see.
00:35Does this streaming content be used to be able to do?
00:39But what I have thought is that
00:43Telugu films, which we have had a very demand.
00:50The Hindi cinema footprint is slightly wider.
00:56So, the impact will be all, and when the distributors are given to us,
01:03and to us, we will see that the flow of film will be reduced.
01:08And the same thing that we have had, there is a dwindling box office.
01:18But President Trump has said that the truth is the truth, because there is a fact that Hollywood, which was called Mecca of Entertainment,
01:36There is a place where people run away from there because there are incentives and the cost of production is reduced.
01:49So, there is a place where the government has found that it is 100% final figure or the negotiation of the elbow room.
02:05But, yes, it is a company to enjoy the industry.
02:10But it is very important to see that
02:13will it impact the streaming content?
02:17And if streaming content will impact,
02:19then it will be very small.
02:24And the cost of production slash
02:28is going on.
02:30Streaming content to writers,
02:32because when we got to hear that,
02:36we got to hear that we got to hear about the salaries.
02:39It is 50% of the salaries.
02:42And the workforce,
02:45it is very clear in terms of the cost of production,
02:50because the entertainment industry, globally,
02:55is a critical goal.
02:58And we are fascinated,
03:01that our indigenous consumption,
03:06our cinema is an addict.
03:12So, we are a sort-of-fit,
03:15but the cinema,
03:16the big budget cinema,
03:19which is overseas revenue,
03:21depends on the U.S. and the US revenue,
03:25will now be a great deal.
03:34U.S.
03:36Have we done so?
03:36And-
03:38on
03:39have we done
03:41great things so much.
03:43Let's go.
03:45So put it back and forth,
03:47haven't spent the idea for 2011.
03:48We would've got so much,
03:49but you know that we've enjoyed it right
03:52and we project so much through
03:53and we're done right.
03:55That's how it all worked out.
