00:00Courtesy of our Canadian friends at FanDuel Canada, the odds are out to be the Browns' week one starting quarterback.
00:08A very jumbled quarterback room in Cleveland.
00:12Here are what the odds indicate as of this moment.
00:15The old Wiley veteran at 40 years old, Joe Flacco, is the favorite to be that week one starter for Cleveland at plus 116.
00:24Nearly a dollar in front of the offseason acquisition via a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.
00:30Kenny Pickett, plus 220.
00:32Shedore Sanders, the fifth round draft pick, plus 370.
00:35The third round selection in Dylan Gabriel is plus 830, the longest price.
00:40You do not see Deshaun Watson listed on that.
00:43He's not going to be ready for week one.
00:45If he plays another game in a Browns uniform, it would be an odds upset as well.
00:50DRS Flacco listed as the favorite to be that week one starter.
00:54Do our Canadian friends have it correct?
00:55Here's what I love, too.
00:56That graphic alone explains you how bad the Cleveland Browns organization actually is.
01:01Because as Ben was going over, because I know the segment was coming up and I saw what it was.
01:05But until it was read out loud, like, yeah, we drafted a kid in the fifth round who's actually way better than the kid that we drafted in the third round.
01:11The kid in the fifth round should start, so therefore the odds would be.
01:13But understand this.
01:14Ben, let me ask you this simple question.
01:15Please.
01:16The Cleveland Browns' expectations outside of the head coach and the general manager and the owner is what?
01:23What is it?
01:23To win five games, maybe?
01:25Exactly.
01:26So then we see the favorite being Joe Flacco, where you want your franchise quarterback to start if you're having a bad season.
01:34Why?
01:34He's going to get experience.
01:36You're going to be bad, and you're going to get a better draft pick.
01:38It's like a win-win-win.
01:39We're not ready to win just yet.
01:41But also at the same time now, we're led to believe that Flacco is going to start at 40 years old for what?
01:45On a bad football team?
01:46Make it make sense.
01:47And then you see, like, Kenny Pickett.
01:49Like, Joe Flacco shouldn't be there if you have Kenny Pickett.
01:51And if you're starting Kenny Pickett, he's not your future quarterback either.
01:55So what are we actually doing?
01:57I look at this and say it should be Shador Sanders or Dylan Gabriel to find out who your starter is because you can't go halfway like they did in the offseason.
02:05Let's pay Miles Garrett.
02:06Let's lose football games.
02:08That doesn't make sense, but that's the Browns.
02:09And again, looking at that roster, day one, it cannot be Joe Flacco.
02:14I mean, DRS.
02:16Again, Miles Garrett might be one of the funniest offseason storylines we really haven't discussed.
02:20It happened during Super Bowl week, the trade request, because he wanted to be with a Super Bowl contender.
02:26The way that Andrew Barry handled that, saying, we still want this guy here.
02:29He's going to end up in Canton from Cleveland.
02:32And then Miles Garrett, because he was paid $40 million a year with over $123 million guaranteed.
02:38You understand why he is with the Browns franchise.
02:41The dollar speaks very loudly, but for Miles Garrett to say, they told me, don't worry, we've got to play in place at the quarterback spot.
02:49For this to be the plan is insane.
02:52Now, when the Browns traded for Kenny Pickett, whether it's fair or not, I think Kenny Pickett has some experience.
02:59Is he going to be the face of a franchise?
03:01Probably not.
03:02Is he going to live up to the hype to be a first-round pick back in 2022?
03:06Probably not.
03:07Is he worth trying out?
03:08I would say for a team that is not expecting to do a lot, with a head coach in Kevin Stefanski, that has done a lot with very little.
03:16Insert Joe Flacco in 2023, starting the final five games of that year, as the Browns won 11 in reach the postseason.
03:24But where exactly did that leave you, if you are Cleveland, in a spot two years later to be drafting second overall.
03:30Of course, trading out of that and selecting Mason Graham fifth overall.
03:34So, in the two hopeful spots, I think you could say, D.R.S.
03:37The first move Cleveland made this offseason to acquire Kenny Pickett.
03:40For very little in return back to Philadelphia.
03:43All right, maybe take a shot on this guy we shall see entering year four in the NFL.
03:48You drafted Dylan Gabriel over Shador Sanders because clearly you like Gabriel more in this draft process.
03:55And yet, Shador has the better price to be your week one starter.
03:58Both of the moves that you made with a little bit of hope are now the two guys that have longer odds than the guy that was acquired after them,
04:06either by a free agent signing for the 40-year-old in Flacco or two rounds later for Shador Sanders.
04:12And again, it's simple math, too, because you're really cloudy, or should I say muddy, that quarterback room when you're trying to say,
04:17OK, we put the two rookies in there and who's actually better.
04:20Did we draft him later to show him you better have more respect about coming to the NFL with your better football player than three?
04:25Let's remove that.
04:26Like, a healthy quarterback room would actually have been like, you know what, our game plan is Kenny Pickett's going to be our starter.
04:30If a young rookie can beat him out, that's so be it.
04:32We'll put him at number two, which would be Shador Sanders.
04:34Let's leave Dylan Gabriel out.
04:35But then we have Joe Flacco as that guy that's great for the room, going to help everybody out.
04:39And if the young quarterback at number two isn't ready to play in week number two, we put Joe Flacco in so we don't embarrass ourselves
04:45and give us a legitimate chance to win that game.
04:47But the fact that we're seeing here just based on the odds, like, hey, Flacco start, Kenny Pickett's number two,
04:52and then the two quarterbacks that we hope to be our franchise guys will be later, understanding that we might win five or six games anyway,
04:57regardless of conditions.
04:59And that's why you should be betting with the lower ranks, like I need Shador Sanders or Dylan Gabriel.
05:04It's an unhealthy quarterback room.
05:05It's ridiculous that it was put together this way.
05:07And even more ridiculous, now that we see the odds on who's actually supposed to start week one,
05:11you say, yeah, let Flacco go.
05:13He's 40.
05:13He's not your future.
05:14You're not winning anything.
05:15Get your future started right now.
05:18Get your future started right now.
