00:00UFC 315 makes its way north of the border as Montreal plays host to another UFC pay-per-view
00:16and that means a lot of Canadians on this card and a lot of Canadians in intriguing fights so
00:21let's take a look at the Canadian spotlight and we begin well we'll start at the bottom and work
00:24our way up uh Brad Katana uh bantamweight out of Winnipeg is facing Bexat Almacan um apologies if
00:31I said that wrong this one we got a couple Canadian fighters on here who are really uh really in so
00:37important fights for them career-wise maybe not necessarily title-wise but career-wise uh Katana
00:42has lost two of his last three looking for a win here from the bantamweight out of Winnipeg to kind
00:47of get things back on track for him a little bit so this is an important fight it looks like it's
00:52gonna be the one that kind of um is the curtain jerker coming up this weekend big fight for him
00:56to get that one on track and just kind of see if we can start to graduate away from just being the
01:01Canadian who fights on the Canadian cards here and try to work our way up the rankings a little bit
01:07now for Marc-Andre Barrio uh the middleweight out of Gatineau this feels like it's a fight for his job
01:12as he is taking on Bruno Silva and it just it has a must win for both guys and type of a feel and
01:19really it feels like a loser leaves town match to me you have um Silva who has lost six of his last
01:25seven taking on Barrio who has lost three in a row and four of his last six he has been finished in
01:32three of the four and two of the three including a first round knockout loss in Edmonton in November
01:38so you have two guys who are struggling if you lose to another struggling guy I just don't know how long
01:44your employment lasts in the ultimate fighting championship and while the UFC does like to load
01:49up on guys from certain regions so that when they go there they can have the local guy there there are
01:54other Canadians that they could find so this is a massive fight for Barrio to try to kind of keep that
02:00UFC paycheck coming in uh then we get to uh Jasmine Jastavisius the number nine flyweight in the world
02:06fighting out of St. Catharines Ontario she'll be challenging Jessica Andrade um Jastavisius has won four
02:13in a row including a big one in her last fight against Mayra Bueno Silva which was the first
02:18female fight out in Saudi she has a lot of talent and has put a very interesting run together it is
02:23not always the most aesthetically pleasing but she has put a very interesting run together um and worked
02:28her way into the top 10 in the flyweight division she is facing a beast in Jessica Andrade and now
02:34Andrade is not what she used to be that there is the the starting of a fall off here uh having lost four
02:39of her last six but she is always a scary human being to fight in that cage and that is the thing
02:44Jastavisius feels like she's gonna have to be perfect for 15 minutes against um Andrade but I
02:49feel like she could be able to as this could be one of the the bigger names that uh she puts a w
02:54aside on her resume Mike Mallott uh will be facing Brad uh sorry Charles Radke Brad Radke is a former
03:00pitcher for the Minnesota Twins and it's weird that my brain went there because I haven't thought about
03:03Brad Radke in a really long time uh but Charles Radke will be taking on Mike Mallott uh who was
03:08born in Burlington Ontario Mallott coming off of a very late loss to Neil Magny pretty good response
03:14when the Ultimate Fighting Championship was up north from here in Edmonton back in November
03:18as he beats Trevin Giles by decision it was the first decision win of Mallott's career looking to
03:25build up some momentum trying to get back into that spot I think the Neil Magny loss was a real
03:29difficult one for him because a win there and now you move into a different category in the
03:34welterweight division and so now you have to start the trek back to where you were 18 months ago that's
03:39a long road back for someone who's 33 34 years old we'll see what Mallott can do here and how high
03:45he can kind of raise that bar in 2025 uh and then one Canadian on the main card it's Eamon Zahabi out of
03:52Laval Quebec uh the number 14 ranked bantamweight in the UFC and he is going up against a legend
03:58in Jose Aldo uh Zahabi obviously a fairly recognizable last name um has won five in a row
04:05after a one and two start to his UFC career three of those by decision two of them by knockout and
04:09again he is facing an absolute legend so going to be interesting to see where the crowd goes is it with
04:15the guy from uh just down the road in Laval or is it going to be with the legend who makes his way
04:21into the octagon one more time in Jose Aldo but it would all be like this is while Aldo is not what
04:26he used to be um or even not a version of the thing that fell off from what he used to be he is
04:33still a dangerous fighter and he is still a very big name so this is equal parts I think the toughest
04:38test for Zahabi and also the easily biggest name of his career and it is a chance now to work up into
04:45a conversation where now we're a couple fights away from being a fight away from a championship
04:50opportunity so a very very important fight for Eamon Zahabi coming up um as we get ready for UFC 315
04:57this weekend
