01:37US government and I'm urging that United States support India at this difficult
01:44time. What steps do you see or what steps do you recommend you know for the
01:51United States to take diplomatically in response to this action between India and
01:58Pakistan? Well I think first of all United States must recognize India's right to
02:07protect its people its territory secondly the United States must encourage a
02:15thorough and complete investigation of our the terroristic attack all early
02:24indications look like Lashkar-e-Taiba's involved in it so that needs to be
02:34investigated and ensured and if those reports are true the early initial
02:40reports of Pakistan's involvement in this terrorist attack are true then United
02:46States must reach and you know act on that uses relationship with Pakistan its
02:56economic relationship its military relationship and you know US must take
03:02strong actions against Pakistan to deter such future attacks by Pakistan or
03:09Pakistan sponsored terrorism in India. Right yeah this may be a bit early but in
03:17terms of the congressional oversight as a member of the Congress what
03:21information would you like to seek or you and your colleagues would like to seek
03:24from the department or the intelligence community of community regarding the
03:29situation that you know just rapidly developing it? Well I'll be asking the
03:34State Department to give us a briefing to members of Congress on this issue
03:41specifically a confidential briefing detailing their what they know now and what
03:51specific investigations they would ask be conducted in the Indo-PAC region so
04:00that's what I would be asking I would be writing to the State Department asking
04:04them for a specialized briefing to the members of Congress. In terms of the
04:11regional stability how concerned are you about like you know potential escalation it's
04:18already escalated but you know going forward even higher than what it is right
04:23now what role do you see the United States play in preventing further military
04:29action from you know both sides? Look look you know war is never a solution but when such
04:40terroristic acts happen it is important that the terrorists are found they are
04:46punished you know it is important that any country that is supporting terrorism sees
04:55that there are consequences for such actions and United States must stand behind
05:02peaceful nations democracies and United States and India must collaborate to fight
05:10against terrorism all across the world. Now both powers are nuclear powers given
05:19that both India and Pakistan you know possess those powers how does you know this
05:25incident affect the US strategic calculations in this whole region? Well looks
05:32like the attack was very measured the attack limited to infrastructures that the
05:39terrorists used so given all that you know I don't see an escalation at this
05:46stage the response that India had appears to be just and measured and very
05:54carefully done so I do not expect that should escalate anything but it should help in
06:06destroying the terrorist infrastructure and send a message. All right your closing remarks anything that you'd like to you know properly tell the president? He reacted a few minutes ago. Look look we have stood behind Israel when Israel was attacked by such barbaric terrorism and the United States must stand behind India as India protects itself
