Sharks are one of the oldest and most fascinating creatures in the oceans. They have existed for about 400 million years, which means they are older than dinosaurs. Today, there are more than 500 known species. The largest is the whale shark, which can grow up to 12 meters, while the smallest is only around 20 cm long.

Sharks have skeletons made of cartilage instead of bone, making them lighter and faster. They usually have sharp teeth that are continuously replaced throughout their lives. Some species have an excellent sense of smell and can detect the scent of blood from kilometers away.

Contrary to popular belief, sharks rarely attack humans. They usually do so out of curiosity or by mistake. As predators, they play a vital role in maintaining balance in the ocean ecosystem.

00:00Turtles are vertebrates and cold blooded reptiles that have existed on Earth for millions of years.
00:06Their most distinctive feature is that they have a hard shell that protects them from both physical threats and environmental conditions.
00:15This shell is part of the ribs and the spine and consists of two main parts.
00:20The upper character and the lower plastron.
00:24Turtles can live in both freshwater, marine and terrestrial environments.
00:29While sea turtles can swim very long distances, land turtles are slow moving.
00:35Their diet varies depending on the environment they live in.
00:38Some feed on plants, while others feed on insects or small animals.
00:43Turtles have a very long lifespan.
00:46Some species can live for more than 150 years.
00:50Unfortunately, however, many species are at risk of extinction due to climate change,
00:55plastic pollution, habitat loss and poaching.
00:59Therefore, it is of great importance to protect them.
