00:10Now kicking off our stories for tonight.

00:13Advocates of a digital network are seeking presidential intervention to enforce an order by a technical working group against ride-hailing and motorcycle taxi services provider, Move It.

00:24Presidential intercession is sought after the Department of Transportation rescinded or blocked an earlier order by the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board, or the LTFRB, instructing Move It to slash its fleet of active riders by close to 8,000 and to also quit its operations in Cagayan de Oro and Cebu City.

00:43This excessive onboarding policy by Move It has unsurprisingly resulted in a number of roadway mishaps and fender benders, injuring passengers and commuters, and putting the lives of so many unsuspecting or oblivious passengers at risk.

00:59Still, Move It has allegedly remained defiant and disrespectful of the LTFRB, which has ordered the Grab subsidiary to reply to a pile of complaints against its riders and service.

01:09Likewise, it has willfully ignored the motorcycle taxi technical working group's invite to a hearing on Move It's continued transgression of the motorcycle taxi's TWG's rules for all motorcycle ride-hailing services.

01:23Digital Pinoy's campaign strategist Ronald Gustila urges DOTR big boss Vince Dyson to reinstate and summarily enforce the LTFRB's earlier order against Move It's aggressive expansion moves that have resulted in poor rider screening and training.

01:40Most of these strawberries from the United States are grown in the Golden State of California, and agro-robots are helping cut or harvest the berries at precisely their best state of ripeness.

01:54Veronica's few ways, Veronica Dulot has the full feature story.

01:57Juan Bravo created a robot that can gently harvest strawberries.

02:08Using sensors and cameras, it analyzes each berry's ripeness and programs the movement of a robotic arm to snip the stem without disturbing the plant's less ripe fruit.

02:21They're ripe from the bottom to the top, so the tip of the bottom becomes red, while the other part of the strawberry is still green and is going up.

02:31So we measure what part of the strawberry is in red and what is still remaining in green.

02:37We typically want about 90% red, 10% green. That is a perfect moment for harvest.

02:42On average, the robot cuts one berry every 10 seconds. Over the course of three days, the machine can harvest eight hectares of strawberries.

02:52We don't want to touch the skin of the strawberry, never. So if we don't touch the surface, we are not going to contaminate it.

02:59It could be with mildew, it could be with virus, or whatever. We don't touch the strawberry.

03:04Automated harvesting is augmented by Agrobot's bug vacuum, which is literally sucking out pests from the bushes without harming the berries or using pesticides.

03:17The robots do not get hot or tired, but they are not taking jobs from humans, says Matt Conroy, district manager for a local fruits and vegetables producer.

03:28As an industry, we are short on people. I have a whole roughly 15 to 20% every year that I need that much money more people.

03:37It's not a matter of displacing people. It's a matter of filling in the holes and the gaps to where we don't have enough people to do the jobs.

03:44Conroy says he is looking forward to modified agro-robots, helping to harvest other crops as well.
