In late 1942, she signed a contract with 20th Century Fox and made her film debut in Otto Preminger's drama Meanwhile, Darling (1944). She appeared in several films, including the noir The Little Things (1948) and the comedy The Dear Secretary (1948). She had the opportunity to perform singing numbers in two musical films, The Barkleys of Broadway (1949), in which she played Shirlene May. The actress died of lung cancer on February 18, 1980, at the age of 58.
