00:00To see the life being essentially choked out of someone
00:16was one of the most devastating things that I've witnessed.
00:22That day on May 26th, that's when the pearl changed.
00:26This was a moment that we could not turn away from.
00:31Okay, okay, okay, so when are we going to change
00:33everything that makes this possible?
00:37Know what prejudice looks like?
00:39Every black person understands and realizes the first time
00:43you are reminded that you are black.
00:46It changed the way the air felt.
00:51Everything felt electric.
00:53I suddenly felt like I'd been blind.
00:56I think that's the awakening.
00:57It's like the blindfold coming off.
01:04There was an outpouring of solidarity, right?
01:07There was also a recognition and a response to the fact
01:10that the UK is not innocent.
01:12The murder of George Floyd felt like a really powerful moment.
01:16You've got a chance to put right the wrongs, to make change.
01:20I wasn't just going to stand and watch it unfold.
01:33You know, I had the power to do something about it
01:35right there and then, and I did.
01:37It's a huge slap in the face of everyone who has had, you know,
01:52real life-defining racism in their life here in Britain
01:55to be told it doesn't exist.
01:57How dare they say that they match up?
02:03There will always be forces that will seek to diminish us
02:07and stifle us and keep us in our place.
02:10But resistance requires that we rise up.
02:13You know, the world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world's world
