00:00Hi! Happy Friday! I wanted to share my Friday fitness tip on a video because it
00:12makes much more sense if I explain it to you rather than trying to type everything
00:17to you. Today I'm wanting to share with you a tip that has helped me immensely
00:25and I've been doing it now since April. It only takes a few minutes a day and it's
00:31one of the easiest, simplest things you can do to help your skin glow, to help
00:41circulation in your body, and to help your lymphatic system move the way that it
00:48needs to. And it's simply called skin brushing or dry brushing. So here's the
00:56lovely brush that I have. It has a handle so I can get my back. Our skin surface has
01:06a pH around 5.5 so it's slightly acidic but that's the way our Creator intended it to
01:15be because it's it's actually the largest organ in our body. We always think of
01:22everything that's hidden but our skin is actually an organ. It's the first line of
01:26defense with germs and bacteria and all kinds of things. So it needs to breathe.
01:34Oxygen gets into our cells through our skin as well. And because of a lot of the
01:41lotions we use, a lot of the soaps we use, all of those smelly things that we put on
01:48our bodies while we're in the bathroom, it has an oil buildup so it clogs the pores
01:56and it also changes the pH of our skin, which is not a good thing. So something that we can
02:05do on a daily basis, and you do it before you get in the shower or before you get in the
02:09tub and your skin is dry, is you get this lovely brush and you're going to start, well I'm not
02:19going to demo from my legs and my feet, but you start at your feet and you start brushing
02:26up the leg towards your heart. So up the shin, up the calf, the entire leg. You start at the foot
02:35and work your way up and just brush and long even strokes towards your heart. Do both legs.
02:43I do the groin area as well. Be careful of the pressure. And then starting at your hands
02:49as well. You just brush. Brush towards your heart. Of course I have my shirt on. Of course
02:55you're doing this bare skin, but you just do long strokes. And again, you're working towards
03:01your heart. I even do, you've got a lot of lymph nodes in your neck area. I gently will
03:08brush that area as well. Everything is brushing towards the heart. Your torso area, you would
03:13brush up towards the heart. Of course on the back it's a little more challenging, so I just
03:19brush. I don't really think of where the heart is. And what this is going to do, it's going
03:26to increase blood flow. It is going to give you smoother skin. Yes, it's going to help with
03:33all of that dry skin. It will slough off the dead skin cells. And it's also going to improve
03:41your lymph movement. Why does that matter? Well, your lymphatic system is comprised of tissues
03:49and organs in the body. And they are there to help get rid of toxins, waste, and other
03:57things that your body doesn't need. It moves it through the body and out. The primary purpose
04:05of the lymphatic system is to transport lymph. That is a fluid that is filled with white blood
04:14cells, which are infection-fighting cells. So you want that lymphatic system to be moving
04:21through your body and you don't want any blockages. And so this simple thing of dry brushing will
04:27help with that. I recommend that you avoid plastic brushes. I bought this at my health food store.
04:34Whole Foods probably has it. Amazon probably has it. It's just natural bristles. There's another
04:43brush that I just heard of that I have not been able to personally use. I can't remember the name
04:48off the top of my head. I'll go look and report on that later. But it's made with horse hair. And then
04:55in the middle, there's some copper bristles as well, which is even more beneficial for the body
05:03and the circulation and everything. You know you have a lot of blood
05:09veins and vessels and things. And that is important. However, your lymphatic system
05:17is three and a half times the size of your blood system. And so it's a rather important system that
05:25a lot of us don't know about and a lot of us don't talk about. So anything we can do to help
05:29that lymph move through our body is a great thing, especially now that we're going into cold season
05:35and flu season. And that dry brushing is also going to help oxygen get into your cells, which makes
05:42your cells able to have more energy and just be more efficient at doing what they're designed to do
05:53in the body. So I hope you enjoy this tip. It's easy.
