00:20In the early hours of May 7, 2025, Pakistan initiated heavy artillery shelling along the line of control
00:27and international border in Jammu and Kashmir, targeting civilian areas in Pooch and Tangdar.
00:32This assault resulted in the tragic loss of at least 15 Indian lives and left 43 others critically injured.
00:47The shelling commenced around 1 am, catching residents off-guard as they slept.
00:52At 2.30 o'clock, when you hear the sounds, we thought it was a badal garg.
00:56Visuals from the ground showed complete devastation,
00:59roofs caved in, rubble piled up everywhere, glass shards glittered on the ground and massive holes torn into homes.
01:06This aggressive action came shortly after India launched Operation Sindur,
01:10a series of precision strikes targeting the alleged terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and POK.
01:16A resident stated that this shelling was worse than what he witnessed during the 1971 war,
01:21and he hadn't seen something of this sort in his entire lifetime.
01:25Another resident narrated that he and his family managed to escape their home,
01:29which was also damaged in the shelling at the nick of the time.
01:32In Pooch town, heart-wrenching scenes unfolded as five members of the Sikh community
01:37were among those killed in the cross-border shelling.
01:39Following this, SAD chief Sukbir Singh Badal took to X to say that among the ones who were killed
01:45were three Gursikhs after Pakistani forces attacked the central Gurdwara,
01:49Sri Guru Singh Sabah Sahib in Pooch district.
01:51In the aftermath, markets were shut in Pooch and dozens of families began fleeing the district to safer areas.
01:58Some say they won't return until peace is restored,
02:01while others have stayed behind, determined to rebuild.
