00:00Hi, I'm Rina Sawayama and we are on set for the cover shoot for the August issue of Who, What, Where.
00:30My music in three words would be eclectic, maximal and emotional.
00:41My first big break as an artist, probably doing Jimmy Fallon performance for the first time was, felt like a big break to me but because it happened during lockdown I still don't really have a real grasp of how well it's gone I guess, I don't know.
00:59So I think this one's one of my favourite pieces, it's by Vivian Westwood and it's hand painted so it's so beautiful I love the different colours on there and like the colour story.
01:15And I'm also really into Victorian milkmaid vibes.
01:22I think it looks really cool, I actually used something like this in one of my videos that's coming up so yeah, love it, so cool.
01:29The fashion direction and the set design complement each other because the set design is super rich so the fashion is kind of bringing out different elements of that.
01:38There's moments where it's kind of a more paired back and the set can really speak for itself and then there's going to be moments where it's both very loud just so there's kind of dynamism throughout the shoot.
01:48My favourite collaboration I've done with another artist is hands down Elton John. Everything about it was epic and so unexpected.
02:00He was so open to taking suggestions and didn't have an ego, just was so part of the creative process and just kept asking Rina do you like that?
02:09I'm just going to try it like this, do you think this is a good idea? And it was so wonderful and very creative and collaborative.
02:39Thank you very much.
