Spotlight: Is the G8 still relevant?

The Group of Eight summit taking place this week will consider measures to prevent a repeat of the ongoing global economic crisis. The new standards of global governance are being discussed at the summit in L'Aquila, but wprobably not be launched until a meeting of the Group of 20 developing nations in September. Is the G8, this small club of “the rich and influential,” still the relevant forum for discussing worldwide issues? We’ll be discussing this question with Marina Larionova from the State University- Higher School of Economics and John Kirton, the co-founder and director of the G8 Research Group.
