In Nepal, five people are injured after two car bombs exploded in Kathmandu. The coordinated attacks were done to put pressure on the government not to extend the terms of officials who can change the country's constitution.

Bomb blasts ripped through the capital city of Kathmandu in Nepal early Tuesday morning. Five people were injured.

Two explosions took place 20 minutes apart.

A group calling themselves the Nepal Swatantra Party claimed responsibility.

One taxi parked along a road blew up. Shortly after, another car exploded as crowds gathered to see the first destroyed vehicle.

"As soon as we approached the scene, we heard the blast and there was a crowd. But we managed to keep the crowd away."

The injured were sent to a nearby hospital, while police and soldiers moved onlookers away from the scene.

The Nepal Swatantra Party is previously unknown in Nepal. The group said the purpose of the bomb was to show their resentment against the term extension of officials who can amend the country’s constitution.
