Paris Hilton arrested on cocaine charge

Police in Las Vegas say Paris Hilton has been arrested for cocaine possession after officers stopped the car she was in on Friday night.

The socialite was reportedly booked into the Clark County Detention Centre on a charge of possessing the drug.

The 29-year-old was in a car driven by a friend, when they were stopped after police noticed what they suspected to be marijuana smoke coming from it.

Officials say they then found what appeared to be a controlled substance on Hilton and tests showed that it was cocaine.

Saturday morning posts on Hilton's Twitter page gave nothing away: "Going to bed. Sweet dreams everyone. Xoxo Paris :)"

In 2007, the heiress served 23 days of a 45-day jail sentence after being found guilty of violating her probation for a drink-driving conviction.
