Happy News: Vending Machines Go Organic
http://www.ThisJustZen.com Congress recently passed "The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act", requiring nutritional standards to be set for all foods sold in schools including vending machines. "It's out with the junk food and in with the healthy food.", says Fresh Healthy Vending founder Jolly Backer (not to be confused with Jolly Rancher) “People are looking for chemical-free foods that don’t have artificial colors, flavors and preservatives,” says Healthy U Snacks founder T. Hephner, (Not to be confused with his distant cousin, Hugh who, interestingly enough has made his living selling artificial colors and preservatives. Also launched is the vending industries own Fit Pick program — which uses stickers to show which snacks and drinks are low in fat and sugar. There are also temperature requirements. For instance, bananas must be stored at 55 to 59 degrees to last a week. And Carrot Top must be stored at 67 degrees or else….too late. In truth going organic is not solely for the health factor but the wealth factor too. It’s a near 27 billion dollar industry , just ask YoNaturals, a San Diego company with 1700 locations that just got bought. (Not to be confused with Yo Momma) Distributed by Tubemogul.
