Shaken and dazed, these wounded passengers are carried out from a Shanghai subway station after a collision between two trains.
More than 240 people were injured in the accident which occurred after a signal systems failure caused one of the trains to ram into the back of the train ahead.
State television said none of the injured were in critical condition.
Some of the passengers said they were lucky to escape without injury.
(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) SUBWAY PASSENGER SHEN JUN, SAYING:
"We were standing in the first train cabin. We hit directly into the back of the train in front of us. I was next to the wall, luckily I was squatting down or else I would have been injured."
(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) SUBWAY PASSENGER CHEN, SAYING:
"The entire train cabin suddenly tilted and the lights went out. The area between two train cabins jutted out. The crash was quite serious."
Around 500 passengers were evacuated from the two trains and train services to nine stations on the line were halted after the crash.
