PRESENTED BY KIERON BLACK of THE SUNDAY ROAST
The Long Knives were formed in 2003 by Niall O' Riordan on guitar and vocals with Mark Finlay on drums and Tom Millet on double bass, playing a melodic spiky folk/rock/jazz fusion. we played some gigs, had a laugh but in the end we just couldnt keep squeezing Tom's Double bass in the back of the band's mini, and Tom returned to his first love: Jazz. The line-up and sound changed with the departure of Tom and the arrival of Joe Latino on electric bass, taking us into the realm of sinuous power pop. This line-up recorded three songs 'Mouth', 'Croon', and 'Someone'; gigging extensively in 2004. As with all things, the party had to end as Mark left for Oz at the end of '04. We take up the story in the crisp Irish autumn when Niall was joined by two old buddies from Cork: Kieran O' Leary on drums/percussion and Barry 'the horse' on bass, recording a dozen or so songs in Blarney over three weekends in November'04. The fruits of those fun-filled sessions appear on our forthcoming minialbum. The 2005-2006 line-up featured James Quinn on guitar and bass, the return of Joe latino on bass, with Steeve Case and Johnny Rayge from fellow Dublin band ITO guesting on drums and Keys respectively. After many shennanigans and wrong turns, we have finally finished our debut mini album 'kiss You Cursed Seducer', which was mastered by the much esteeed Kramer in sunny Florida.
