BALCONYTV DUBLIN 22/12/2008
PRESENTED BY PAULINE FREEMAN
The Worms are one of the most interesting and engaging young comedy acts in Ireland today. Philippa Dunne, Amy Stephenson, Rory Connolly, Niall Gaffney and Shane Langan, collectively known as Diet of Worms, are a five piece comedy group from Dublin, Ireland. Formed in 2006, they have since been regulars on the Irish comedy circuit and taken three full-length shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with 2007's 'Diet of Worms on (Melted) Ice' being performed completely in a swimming pool. They have quickly gained a cult following with their off-centre live performances, their monthly Puffincat Comedy Club and the success of their YouTube mocumentary series 'Dublin Stories'.
"Reminiscent of a young Monty Python ensemble."
The Skinny Fest
"Theyve certainly got the potential for greatness. Theyre talented, versatile performers, unafraid to try something a little different while keeping their eye on the funny. Cult success surely awaits."
Chortle.co.uk
"Clever and frequently hilarious."
Hot Press
"Diet of Worms have a definite hint of 'The Young Ones'...This is definitely a group to look out for."
Three Weeks
"The best comedy troupe not to be on TV."
