Protesters rally as Supreme Court debates healthcare

Protesters, both for and against President Barack Obama's healthcare law rally in front of the Supreme Court Tuesday.

Scores march as the high court convenes for the second of three days of historic arguments.

The Supreme Court is taking up the core of the healthcare law, zeroing in on whether Congress has the power to require most people in the United States to buy medical insurance.

At the heart of the issue is the "individual mandate" - the part of the health law that makes Americans pay a penalty if they don't buy medical insurance.

Tuesday's scheduled two-hour session promised to offer the first concrete look at how the court's nine justices view the law that Obama signed two years ago and that still divides Democrats and Republicans.

A ruling in the case is not expected until late June.
